Powder great; shipping by Amazon terrible - package ravaged and arrived with a leak
This amla powder is excellent, so I'm giving the product itself five stars. I'm not taking it internally, so I cannot say much about taste or effect on the stomach. I'm using it to make a mouthwash to kill S. Mutans. However, I had to contact Banyon to get a replacement after the package came from Amazon looking as though it had been through a meat grinder. It didn't just look bad; it leaked and was covered with powder on the outsides. Thankfully, I'd not ordered anything with it that was damaged by the powder. Since Amazon does not allow a return, I let Banyon know how folks might be receiving their product. I've watched Amazon package care-taking get almost comically terrible over the past few years. It would be comical, but it's much less funny when you can't return it.Order straight from Banyon if you can.

Strongest Antioxidant on the planet!
This is the strongest antioxidant on the planet that you can tak and it doesn't cost very much! This bag will last you btwn 6mos-1 year! Amalaki is Indian gooseberries and the taste is very sour and bitter. I take btwn 1/4-1/2 teaspoon a day in tea. It does not mix well in cold water or cold drinks. I highly recommend this if you want to protect yourself and keep yourself healthy from diseases.

Much Cheaper and Much Better than alternatives
For years I had been using a Ningxia Red drink as a supplement, but it was very expensive. Then I read about the increased antioxidant power of Amalaki fruit powder by comparison, and the cost was only a fraction of the bottled drink for a daily dose. I have to mix the powder into a drink, but that is no big deal. I just mix the proper amount of powder for a week's supply with a small amount of hot water to dissolve it easily, add fruit juice and then a few squeezes of Mio or similar products for more flavor/sweetness/color and place it in the fridge. The five minutes or so that this takes are well worth the effort, considering the savings and added antioxidant benefits compared to what I previously used.Without boring you with the math, Amalaki costs about 1/10th of what I was spending before, and Amala is off the charts compared to goji berries. The raw taste is more bitter, but, as I mentioned earlier, this can be overcome by proper mixing to your taste with juices and liquid sweeteners. That leaves only a texture difference. The Amalaki powder may feel a bit gritty going down, but I have no problem with that at all. All things considered, this is a great alternative to other similar products.

Not a great taste
Maybe I tried too much of this at first. The bag has been sitting in my fridge now for months and I just can't bring myself to try it again. I will have to someday, though. Otherwise . . . money wasted. And I suppose I need the anti-oxidants.

Fantastic company and quality products
I absolutely love this company. I always receive the product in a timely fashion and their herbs are of great quality. I also appreciate that they choose sustainable sources and not just find a source to fulfill their orders. For example, they were out of kutki and we're looking for suitable sources...rather than just rush to fulfill the demand, customers needed to wait a bit. I didn't mind at all and prefer to not scour precious sources for the sake of a supplement. When it is obtained, I feel better about taking it knowing it comes from a great source.Good people and practices at this company which is why we keep returning. On a very random note, they have a great kitchari recipe on their website and their yellow mung Dahl is really good quality, you can definitely taste the difference.

Happy customer. Banyan is my new Go To place for my ayurvedic needs :-)
I was wary about ordering the Amla powder after reading so many reviews on many Amla product sites that the taste is in intolerable. But I mixed it into plain yogurt and topped it off with cooked berries and I could not detect the taste of Amla at all. Yay. :-) I greatly appreciate the packaging with a zip lock seal. Banyan has that on every product that I have ordered thus far. I also appreciate that Banyan tests their Amla, something that was imperative for me as a buyer. It's too soon to report any personal health benefits from Amla but the research about it is so encouraging. Dr Michael Greger, author of "How Not to Die" is a big fan of Amla.
