This is a piece of my pressed plant pottery which can be used as a functional piece or a ornamental piece. White clay is rolled out in a slab, fresh Queen ann's Lace and purple nap flower have been pressed into the wet clay, (which both plants grow in abundance the same time of year). The clay is hand cut and then drapped over a bowl until the mud dries. It is carefully taken to kiln and fired, leaving a perfect white blank canvas to paint on. It is then hand painted with underglaze stains to capture the plants in their natural state, with a clear dinner ware safe glaze put over the top it is fired once again leaving a high gloss piece. You can use these pieces in the oven on warm and in the microwave. Hand washing is recommended. Each piece will be shipped with a informational card that explains the creation process as well as care instructions. The bowl itself is a tiangular shape that is curved up at the 3 corners, with the height at the corners being approximately 1 3/4 inches top to bottom. The bowl is 10 inches by 10 inches, with the internal depth of the bowl at 1 inch at the center. If being used as a ornamental art piece suggest adding felt tabs to bottom of bowl to prevent scratching of table tops, they are left off for oven and microwave use. Each one is a mini masterpiece from Mother Nature, hand made with all the beauty that comes with being uniquely different.
