I got this to do some low-temperature heating of some epoxy resin coatings. I didn’t want soot or excessive heat. So far, using 99.9% methanol (methyl hydrate) it has worked as desired. I am led to believe that more soot is produced by ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, but haven’t tried it yet.

It works good wish the cap was not plastic so when I turn it off I could leave it on but I’m afraid it will melt

The lamp works as expected. I had a little challenge getting the wick to fit through the hole in the ceramic cap but managed to do so, but I think that is normal.
