Radial has a 8 unit one for 800 bucks that looks like this one? This Behringer looks too good to be true? Is it the same as the Radial?

Hi, Wildman: we've been using the DI800 (actually, a pair of them) in our church since approx Jun 2013 as instrument input DI boxes for a pair of Behringer S16s. Both DI800s have done very well, no noticeable noise, solid, no complaints - they just work. I couldn't believe the price either, but for the money it seemed irresponsible to *not* try it. I have no experience with the Radial unit, so I won't comment on it.

can I use the "link" input for the my headphone amp?

The LINK output is exactly the same as the INPUT. Whatever goes into the INPUT comes out the LINK so plugging a guitar into the input then going from LINK to your headphone amp is the same as plugging your guitar directly into your headphone amp. The UNBAL OUT port (also front) is different. It is an unbalanced link to the XLR output port on the back (after the internal amplifier) so it is at microphone level even if your INPUT is at line level. Each channel is completely separate so you do NOT hear all channels together at all outputs. Regarding headphones, remember that all the DI outputs are only MONO, NOT STEREO so unless you have a mono input on your headphone amplifier you will only hear the output at one ear.TIP: I tend to plug my inputs into the LINK port (same as INPUT) so that I DON'T mistakenly plug an instrument into the UNBAL OUT port. Trust me, it is easy to make that mistake when you are in a hurry. Since the LINK port is higher up, all by itself, it is easier to find and easier to avoid mistakes.Overall, I am VERY happy with this DI. It is quiet, pretty, compact and convenient. WHOA, STOP! DISINFORMATION! Product description clearly states the following in one of the bullet points: "Allows direct connection to speaker outputs with up to 3,000 Watts". Further down in the description, it then states, "Here are just two special features that differentiate the DI800 from most standard DI boxes: second bullet item Maybe you'd like to connect your guitar amp's speaker output to your mixer? Not a problem, the DI800 features a -30 dB attenuation switch, allowing you to connect to speaker outputs (up to 3,000 Watts!) and convert them to balanced XLR outs". JMcBride and Anonymous, how did you arrive at your answers? Are the rest of us missing something?

For the 6 unbalanced to balanced, yes (by definition,that's what a DI box does). However, it does not provide the conversion of a balanced to unbalanced signal. You can easily construct a cable for this (you can find many wiring diagrams on the 'net), but be advised that with this approach (that is, a simple balanced-to-unbalanced cable without active/amplifier components), you'll lose 50% of the gain of the signal.
