Suggestions for instruction manual improvements / temperature resolution
Here is one clarification that I would add to the FRONT section of the manual. "This device is only used in ONE MODE at a time: TIMER, HEAT, or COOL. The MODE button is used to switch modes. Important: you only need to use the SET button to program the ONE mode that you are interested in. All other mode settings can be left in their default state."That one clarification would have helped me avoid quite a lot of wasted time and frustration. The device seems to be working as expected. However I don't understand why the target temperature setting is not settable in one degree increments. Mostly it uses 2 degree increments, but there are a few one degree jumps in the range covered. That inconsistency does not make sense. One final note: there is a similar 'looking' unit available from Houzetek. But it appears to have different firmware and front panel button layout from this Thermaplug device. The Houzetek does have a temperature sensor attached to an extension cable. Whereas the Thermaplug is a short stub. If you need to extend the Thermaplug sensor, you could get the correct type of male to female 2 conductor extension cable. I believe the connector is a 2.5mm size.

Watch the programming video and it becomes a good buy.
The other reviews are absolutely correct in saying that this item comes with nothing that explains what you need to know to program it, and it is quite difficult to program. I watched the video for the item that explained how to program it and decided that I could figure out how to do it and ordered one to give it a try. It still took some figuring out to get it exactly right but I finally got it programmed it and it works perfectly. I use it to keep my water lines from freezing in my RV with a heat lamp and so far it's getting the job done.

If only I can set it up
I’m going to admit that I haven’t used this yet. Why? Because I’m still trying to understand how it works. The instructions are there but it’s not easy to put in the settings you want. The idea behind the product is great. The price is great. But I wish they would just come up with a video on how to work the thing. It would spare us so much trouble and would probably encourage more people to buy. I’m sure I will like this product, once I get it figured out. I will update this review when I get it set up.

Hard to program! But very Functional
Printed operation manual in micro print get out the magnifying glass. Seemed to be glitchy at first when programing the days and times. Locked up twice and lost the scheduled days and times. Other then that the functionality is great! you may find your temp is reading a few degrees higher then it should just compensate.

Great product, does what it's meant to do
This item is perfect at what it does. Programming isn't intuitive but the directions are easy to follow. I currently use mine to control a 5,000 btu air conditioner and it does a great job of keeping temps where I want them and saving me energy consumption. Super easy to use! For the price it can't be beat.

Seems to work well (see last update)
But, the instructions require a lot of work to understand, and you basically stumble into programming it without much help from the illogical instructions.UPDATE: Given the obvious shortfall, it worked well enough that I just ordered another one.UPDATE: New one arrived and you cannot switch the mode between 7 day, whole week, and the other one. Sending it back.

Does the job
I used this to control a window air conditioning unit that does not have a thermostat. It does the job. Programming is a little tedious but only took about half an hour while reading the directions.
