Beautiful Book.
Fantastic. Bought as a gift for family, they seemed thrilled upon opening the wrapping paper. It really is filled with great images. Full size too, not tiny images with bodies of text stealing the space.

A Brilliant Art Book On The Works Of A Genius Who Is Tragically No Longer With Us
It has now been over five years since Satoshi Kon, who's one of my favourite Japanese animation directors, had passed away after a losing a small but intense battle with pancreatic cancer. Kon had directed five anime classics, PERFECT BLUE (1997), MILLENNIUM ACTRESS (2001), TOKYO GODFATHERS (2003), the TV series PARANOIA AGENT (2004) and PAPRIKA (2006).When I found out that Kon had died, I, like so many others, was very upset and I shed some tears (In fact, I'm still very shocked he's no longer with us). Kon was only a few months short of 47 when he passed away, and had so much to live for - he was in the making of the sci-fi tale, THE DREAMING MACHINE, when he found out he had pancreatic cancer (that film remains shelved, facing an uncertain future because only 600 of the film's planned 1,500 shots have been animated). This book contains the art of his completed projects, as well as unfinished efforts, manga work and art he personally did himself. And as excepted, it's beautiful and striking. The only complaint, and it is only a minor one, that there wasn't enough art on both PARANOIA AGENT and PAPRIKA. But it isn't a bother. At the start of the book, there is a touching tribute written about Kon from American director Darren Aronofsky, who met Kon in person and has regarded PERFECT BLUE as one the influences for both REQUIEM FOR A DREAM (2000) and BLACK SWAN (2010).Satoshi Kon may no longer be with us anymore, but thanks to his superb works, he will never be forgotten. Thank you so much for your efforts, Kon. THE ART OF SATOSHI KON is recommended to buy for all fans of animation and world cinema.Reviewer: Ben David W
