I took all three sections of the CSET using this book and some Khan Academy and youtube videos. The first two test subsets were great, however the third one which deals with the arts, P.E. and child development was not that great. I bought this book, so I wouldn't have to search out other resources to use for this test and in the third section, it actually tells you to look up the fine art information on wikipedia instead of including it in the book. I have no problem with them giving supplemental information via wikipedia or Khan Academy, but the fact that they didn't include it in the book at all was ridiculous. The book includes quizzes on each subject and practice tests that follow the information for each subtest section. These were all very helpful. I would have liked for their to be a short review after each subsection of each topic (for example, if the earth science section had a few review questions as well as the oceanography sections instead of just having one complete science review at the end). The tests in the book were actually harder than the CSET practice test and the CSETs that I took. All and all, this is a good book to study and I would recommend getting it if you are planning on taking the CSET multiple subject tests.

Does not cover all topics and some sample tests answers are wrong
I just got back from taking the Subset I portion of the CSET on Reading/English/Social Studies. This book did not prepare me well enough. There are so many questions that I just simply did not know the answer to because it was not covered in this book. For example, Cesar Chavez and I thorough review of the California constitution. It also asked several questions about learning a second language. My written exam was on Islam. This book barely covered Islam. Read this book, but you definitely have to supplement it to get more in depth information. I've ordered additional books for Subset II and III. In addition, when taking their practice tests, some of their answers are wrong. In one instance, it asked which came first during the Civil War and had the "correct" answer that Sherman's March came before the Gettysburg Address. This is not true. This was just one of several examples I came across. I wish I had read some of the other reviews before I took my test. I would have read other books more in depth. So I don't know if I passed. This book will redeem itself a bit if I do, because it did cover some information that I didn't know and helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses in test taking... mostly that I didn't thoroughly read the questions and that I need to make sure I fully understand.

Great book & passed!
This review only covers Subtest 1. I was skeptical about this book since a lot of reviews were rating it pretty low. I used this book & this book only to review for the test & I passed. I took this test three times & the first two times i took this test I used the Cliffs Test Prep & was off by 5-10 points. This book covers everything that's on the test. I studied for 3 months & read everything over & over again. I suggest this book & really dedicating your time to studying. I'm not sure why the others rated this book pretty low. I loved it.

It's pretty good but I wasn't able to access the online practice test. I was feeling frustrated about it since I was excited to work on it only to realize that I can't move to the next page. I was only on the first page then when I tried to click the arrow so I can go to the next page and so on, it wasn't working. The book is helpful but I wished I've done the online practice too that would somehow complete my review.

A lot of mistakes
I purchased both the Cliff Notes book and this book. The Cliff Notes was much more comprehensive and the sample questions in the Cliff Notes book were much more relevant to the material. There were many mistakes in the Barron's book, some of the "explained answers" showed the wrong letter as the correct answer. Additionally, some of the answers were just incorrect information. While the Barron's book did fill in a few informational gaps, it mainly just confused me by providing incorrect information and practice tests that weren't very helpful. For a study book that is meant to help people pass a test related to education, there should not be this many mistakes.

Best Study Guide
Fabulous!!! I used some of my friends study guides and they were not as thorough, especially in the math and science portion. This book takes you beyond the skill set you need to pass the math CSET. It also walks you through how to do the math problems and gives a exam at the end of each section. I would recommend this to anyone who needs help! I didn't use the english/history portion of the book, so I can't speak to that.

I purchased this book for Subtest II (Math/Science) being that it's the the last CSET that I need to pass. The subject matter for Science is fairly vague with some typo's, however the sample tests were helpful and reinforced the concepts in the book. My suggestion would be to use another study guide in addition to this one as it doesn't seem adequate enough to result in a passing score on its own.
