Iznik Pottery and Tiles: In the Calouste Gulbenkian Collection

A beautiful book I know I will look through over and over again.But!The first copy I ordered was in Portuguese (though the product description lists the language as English). I returned it and received a second copy, but again it was in Portuguese. I suspect that I if I returned the book a second time, I would again receive one in Portuguese.I'm bummed to miss out on Ribeiro's commentary.

Saw an exhibit of Iznik art and had to have this book. It did not disappoint!

This is one of TWO best books on the subject.(The other one: Iznik By Walter B. Denny)Iznik by Maria Ribeiro has magnificent color pictures,throughout the book, of the Iznic pottery collectionin Lisbon, Portugal. The text is interestingbut the pictures are the main feature of the book.A must have for the decorative art enthusiast.

The text is marginally informative, although I'm not sure how much one can say about old ceramics that are not just guesses. I did buy this book mainly for the pictures though and those do not disappoint. It's a bargain for the price.
