William And Kate: The Movie [DVD]

Quite the surprise, one thinks!
We're not big fans of the Royals, but at this price it seemed too good to miss, so an order was placed and the DVD arrived yesterday. Based on other reviews, I was expecting layers of cheese, with extra cheese on top as only the American film industry knows how, but you know, it really wasn't that bad!The scenery was convincing, the actors were pretty good, and the plot, (I think) was close to real-life events, but I now need to go and visit some online newspaper back-issues to find out for sure. Talking of the cast, the leading man played a very creditable William, and in fact, I have to say that the real Wills is somewhat disappointing as a result. Likewise "Kate" - she was a very close lookalike, and the two seemed to gel onscreen. Prince Charles is gamefully played but is only close in voice. As regards the interpretation of the Royal Scenario, I can only guess as to its accuracy, but as Kate realises that she's dating a man who's life is not his own, the refusal of the monarchy and all the associated hangers-on to move into the 21st Century becomes all too clear. It also gives some idea of what it's like to live with the Paparazzi 24/7 and if that's what she really wants then she's welcome to it. In the movie, Wills has b*lls and actually comes across as a forceful character: whether he's like this in real life I don't know, but I suspect not, but for the sake of his late Mother I hope he has. And incidentally, this subject was briefly touched on, leaving the question of her real fate open-ended again. Kudos to the producers for including that one.The only disappointment for us was that they didn't marry in the movie, but I guess with a low budget one can't expect that :-) Overall then, I'd give it 4/5 and would say that it makes an entertaining 88 minutes viewing.

Pretty good for what it is
Considering the presumably short production time and somewhat limited subject matter, this was a surprisingly un-terrible film.Clearly, you can't watch it expecting to learn what really happened and, as stories go, it was heart-warming and as close to family-friendly as a film about a 21st century student romance could be.As an Englishman I could detect an American twang (of varying intensity) to "Kate's" (Camilla Luddington's) accent, but that didn't break the spell too badly for me. I found Nico Evers-Swindell a pretty convincing William - brought Hugh Grant to mind at times... The portrayals of Prince Harry and the Middleton family, on the other hand, I found somewhat cringeworthy.Production quality was good, and I would recommend the film to anyone who enjoys watching a bit of British awkwardness and isn't going to take it too seriously.

I have actually seen this film - and it is brilliant
Most of the reviews so far seem to have been from people who haven't seen the film. I stayed in to watch it on Channel 5 this weekend, and my DVD arrived yesterday. All I can say is, miss this film at your peril - I shall actually be watching it again instead of the actual wedding (which appears to have a far dowdier cast and lower production values) on Friday. It's only six quid, it's only just over 80 minutes and I guarantee it provides entertainment on every level. From the smelliest of anarchists to the most ardent royalist there's something for everyone.Be aware, the film only goes up to the marriage proposal (I won't spoil the ending for you - watch for yourself to see what happens)Special features on the DVD include "stereo" and "colour" so this is also a must have for anyone who has recently upgraded their television. Black and white may have been good enough for the coronation, but this is 2011!

good!
Just a 'no thinking' film about William and Kate. I've seen it several times. And liked it every single time.I love their story and I loved that they made a movie about it.The price was especially great.Just a minor detail that I didn't like was that the part in the middle where the DVD clicks in was broken so the dvd is floating around in the box all the time... is all.

I I think that the costume department could have given Camilla Ludington blue contact lenses to make her look more like Kate. Ja
This DVD arrived today. Watched it straight away. The sound quality was superb, except I missed a few words which might have been mumbled.I I think that the costume department could have given Camilla Ludington blue contact lenses to make her look more like Kate. James and Pippa, didn't look like themselves, but oh well.

I work as a carer and bought this for my client and I to watch. As she is a royalist. Easy to watch and understand for my lady and quite a nice love story.
