Born again meat eater: Biltong > Jerky
Didn't quite know what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised with this Kalahari Biltong. Found it to be a delicious alternative to jerky. Where jerky can be super hit-or-miss, often leathery and tough, this Biltong was tender and filling. The other major plus is the ingredient list. While I like the idea of Jerky as a snack (quick, easy protein), I'm always put off/grossed out by all of the artificial ingredients, sugar, preservatives, etc. This Biltong has a much cleaner bill of ingredients; feel much better about what I'm putting in my body. Also has great flavor - in fact, much more than expected. I imagine people who like an intense flavor profile will particularly like it. Also keeps well. Took it in my car yesterday, opened it and had some on the way to a hike, left it in the car, and it was still in perfect shape when I got back from the hike and polished off the rest of the bag. While I was initially bummed that there wasn't more in the package, it was quite a bit more filling than expected. What I also realized is that jerky tends to be in bigger chunks and can sit higher in the bag, giving the illusion that there's more in there. The Biltong sits lower in the bag because it's not as tough, so the pieces fold and gather toward the bottom. With that in mind, I found it to be at least reasonably similar in overall volume to what I get with high-quality jerky for about the same price, though I actually found the Bilton more filling and satisfying. In conclusion, I still enjoy Jerky and will probably grab it from time to time when it's the best available option (e.g. at a middle-of-nowhere gas station), but when I have the choice (e.g. sitting in front of Amazon right now), I'll definitely re-order this Kalahari Biltong in bulk.

Amazing jerky and vendor
Honestly the best jerky I've ever had. So I recently had been looking for more snacks on a low carb intake diet and naturally turned to jerky- I tried 6 or 7 before finding this stuff and have had to keep a running stash of it since. Seriously fantastic. As a spicy food lover, the Peri-Peri flavor is great- though perhaps could use a little more spice if anything, but the flavor is great, and the texture just sets it apart from similar brands entirely. As other people have noted, there is most definitely a prosciutto-like consistency to the jerky which makes it that much better. Yes, the price is up there, but most definitely worth it if you have the money to spare. On top of that, the makers are clearly on their game and a pleasure to deal with, should you have to. I recently had a shipment delivered and stolen off my front porch, and after messaging the company, Kalahari had a replacement shipment to me within a few days, along with a handwritten note thanking me for my business. Honestly, this company has probably made a lifelong customer of me at this point, and I cannot recommend them and their product enough.

Warning: recipe changed to include GARLIC and other strange favors :(
I've been a loyal customer for around a year since going keto. Spicy peri peri is my favorite flavor. I eat a third of a packet every day after my workout, so more than 2 packets every week without fail, either from Amazon or the local co-op. So imagine my disappointment when I receive a different product than usual (and different from the description). The new recipe contains garlic. Some people love garlic, sure, that's why there's a different flavor, called "Garlic"! But garlic with chili powder?! No thanks. I love spicy food, but I'm not a fan of having a garlic taste in my mouth. I'm especially not a fan of such a drastic recipe change to a product that was already perfect. Why reinvent the wheel? Spicy peri peri with 7 simple ingredients was 100% perfect just the way it was. Besides the garlic, there's now other strange flavors that don't match the chili powder flavor, like nutmeg, onion powder, and even green tea extract, of all things (hopefully there's no caffeine?). This product can no longer be said to contain "simple ingredients" as advertised on the package.I've emailed the company in the hopes that they'll reconsider this drastic change in flavor. I'd be willing to buy bags of the old recipe in bulk if there are any left in stock anywhere. It's really hard to get in enough calories on keto without snacks like biltong (doing keto for health not weight loss), so I'm really disappointed that I'll have to switch to another product. I'm thinking of either buying the original flavor and adding my own chili powder, trying Ayoba's spicy version, or learning to make my own.I'm including a pic of the old package with the 7 simple ingredients, and the next pic is the new flavor I just received. Luckily Amazon was able to refund me without a return, because the product didn't match the description, so that's good anyway. I'm still upset that I'll have to give up a beloved food, though.

SRSLY Delicious!!
I've been really disappointed lately at how difficult it is to find good jerky. Especially when I started paying more attention to ingredients and the quality of those ingredients. If you're OK with soy and gluten in beef jerky then at least know what you're eating and why it is even in there. I decided to try this product on a whim and I am very glad I did. While not technically jerky, it fits the same requirement for my purposes: quick, tasty, simple ingredients, refrigeration not needed, good protein, low or zero carb. Usually a bag this size (2 oz) is a single serving for me. The nutrition label says a serving is 1 oz for 80 calories, 16g protein, zero carb, zero sugar. I will say this: this is the first time I ever actually stopped, resealed the package, and put it away for later while eating jerky. Why? I wanted to savor what I had already eaten and save the rest for later so I could do it again. It was that good. I will definitely be ordering more and will give the other flavor a try.

Where's the spice?
I don't think this is peri peri. Just tastes like salt and liquid smoke. Maybe mispacked?Disappointed.
