Jo Chef
Great product by Jo Chef. I have used mine on many occasions and it has worked well each time. The other day I used it to roast marshmallows with the family and it was a great treat, 5 star product.

Long flame, easy to handle
I was surprised at how long the flame is for the price of this torch. It's easy to adjust from low to high and you don't have to worry about turning it off because it's a simple trigger mechanism to fire it and when you let go, it's off. You can't beat this torch for this price!

Jury is still out
I have mixed feelings about this torch. The first thing I noticed was a number of typos on the box. First impressions are important. OK, so how does the torch perform...? I bought some butane, but it turned out to have the wrong nozzle. The torch takes a longer stem; I bought a can of Zippo with a small flip-up nozzle. Had to return it and get the right one. It would have been helpful to have this covered in the directions -- maybe a photo or two. OK, so how does the torch perform...? I did get it to light, so that part is good. But I want to make sure that it is safe when not in use. That's when I found another problem with their documentation, such as it is. On the box, when not in use, it says to turn the adjustable flame knob clockwise all the way to the right. This is correct; clockwise is to the right. However, the separate directions say to turn the knob clockwise to the left -- not correct. Unfortunately, neither works. When the knob is out, it does not rotate left or right. If I push it in, it starts the torch and I can turn to the right to keep the flame on. So, is there a trick to securing the torch, or do I have a defective unit? I wrote to Jo Chef support over a week ago to ask this question, but have not received a response. My concern is that the sloppiness in the packaging, contradictory instructions, and lack of support carries over to the product itself. I will probably be returning this unit.Update: I have changed the rating from a 3 to a 4. Support did finally get back to me and answered my question about locking it (you have to push the button in slightly and then turn clockwise). If they can clean up the packaging and instructions, it would be a 5.

Is now working.
*UPDATE* The knob is a bit delicate so I have to keep turning it to open or it won't work. Its a bit annoying but at least it works.*OLD REVIEW*Filled it with butane and waited as the instructions said. Then I tried it and I was impressed with how big the flame was. Then I used it for an art project (that’s what I purchased it for) and it worked the first and second click. Now it only works the first time you click the button. I have to turn the close and open knob for it to turn one for only one click. It is useless this way. I’ll try to post a video in the morning so you see what I’m talking about.

Great Torch - don't forget to buy the butane!
Super thrilled with my jo chef kitchen torch. This brand really wants to please its customer's. It comes with a few freebies which are really awesome! The torch Works really well. I cant wait to try it out on creme brulle and other desserts that i always wanted to try.Just as a warning you will need to buy butane. Order together with the torch so you dont hve to wait. I had to buy two brands, because the first brand (colemans) opening didnt allow me to fill the torch properly. Great product! Thank You.

Lights Up But Takes Too Long
Unlike others I mine did not leak butane and lit up no problem. However, it took way too long to crisp the ends of the meat. I like the fat on my steak to be little burned and crispy... yummy. This torch heat/pressure is very low so it would take way too much time to crisp up the ends of the steak. So now I just use it as a basic butane lighter for cigars and candles.

Update: look elsewhere
Update: this is the second unit I have bought that has failed me. The first unit stopped being able to create a spark to ignite the flame, the second units valve that controls the amount of butane is broken resulting in random flame size from small to dangerous flamethrower which is uncontrollable. I do use these torches daily which is a lot of use but these should last longer and be safer.

Excellent torch
I use my torch for popping the bubbles after doing acrylic pours. This torch works beautifully! I love the ability to control the flame... Don't want to burn the paint or canvases. It's also an easy to grip torch with excellent controls. Very easy and intuitive to use. Very little learning curve.Takes butane.I would think this torch would be just as easy to use for cooking (or dabs).Recommended!

If you plan on using this once in a blue moon and want great options
It worked perfectly until it just died on me after a good months worth of use. I only got to refill it twice maybe three times before it just died. It still ties to ignite with no ignition :/ for 30$ I cant be too mad, I just hoped for longer lasting I guess
