Well presented guide.
I have been collecting Timpos since I was a kid & I loved the trip down memory lane with this book. I came across items I had completely forgot about, which brought back fond memories. It has a great history which is not too long winded and excellent coverage of all the series that were issued, all in colour. I discovered items which I didn't know existed. It finishes with a brief history of the company's unfortunate demise and a complete listing of the number for each series. I don't believe however that the book is exhaustive, but that does not detract from the satisfaction this book will bring to collectors. It is great for anybody who has been collecting or about to commence. As there are limited publications on this subject, I have found this book to be priceless.

Very detailed guide to Timpo plastic figures
Highly detailed look at Timpo figures and sets, covering the early multi-piece swoppet type figures, and the later type moulded in several different colours on the one part. Forts, buildings, vehicles, and train sets are also covered. The coverage of the artillery pieces is less extensive, and coverage of the accessories varies. A chapter on how Timpo were able to mould several colours on a single part would have been useful to those not familar with this method. This is the third edition, but the first I have seen. I am very pleased with it - it includes all the Timpo figures I once played with, and many I did not know existed - I certainly do not remember ever seeing the Vikings. A great book.

If you love Timpo you must have it!
I grew up with these in the 70`s and the biggest battle they had was competing with the likes of the superb 1/32 scale offerings from Airfix,Matchbox ,Britains Deetail ;not to mention Action Man,Playmobil and the Star Wars figures which probably hastened their demise. My interest has been rekinkled and this book is one of the very few that deals with the Swoppet range which was first issued in the early sixties. Please note that it only covers these figures and none of the Timpo "solids" which deserve a book in their own right.I`ve not seen Mr Maughn`s first book but this new edition is certainly larger than the second with more pictures, particularly of the different styles of packaging which Timpo used over the years-a shame though that there are no images of the small box packaging issued in the 70`s.The second version of the book was a glossy affair whereas this is printed on cheaper quality paper and some of the images are not as sharp as they could be.It lists all the Swoppet ranges ,many different variations, more of the accessories that came with the figures although there are undoubtedly many more waiting to be discovered!I would have liked to see close-ups of the Western buildings released but the images are only of box artwork-probably from one of the Timpo catalogues.Besides covering the ranges it also has a few images of "foreign" Timpo including figures that were released (and maybe manufactured?)in New Zealand.Another nice bit of info is that the Khaki soldiers were released in the US as Green Berets! The sections on the Castles and Forts are more comprehensive with pictures of the various releases and artwork. There`s also a nice section on a company called Toyway who briefly revived the brand with some re-issues and new items in the 90`s.The original Timpo catalogues can go for crazy prices and this book is a superb entry into the market for new collectors or those wishing to relive childhood memories.

An excellent Reference Book and a lovely trip down Memory Lane for fans of TIMPO.
Fantastic Stuff. This book contains a vast amount of information on the subject of British Toy Manufacturer TIMPO. Full of high quality pictures and technical specifications on the complete range of products produced by the Company. As a Child Of The Sixties, I grew up with many of the Cowboys and Indians as portrayed in this book, so it is a wonderful trip down memory lane to see these figures again, portrayed in excellent quality colour pictures. As a reference guide for Collectors - this book is a Must Have piece of work.

Nice book, a few more illustrations in certain sections would have been nice. Still recommended for collectors and nostalgia sufferers (like me...) alike.
