It seems to work ok. The form factor has one problem, the stick can't really get to all the edges and nooks and crannies in my dog's paw.

Paw protector really helps moisturize your pet’s paws and prevent scrapes when walking over rough surfaces. It does make them slide over hardwood floors though.
