Edit: (resolved!) Does not “whistle”
Edit: I received a replacement for my defective product in a matter of days. The new kettle worked as described with a pleasant “train whistle” harmonica sound. Adjusting my review to 5 stars as this kettle is much nicer than what we’ve had in the past. Original review of defective product: Ordered this kettle specifically for its whistle, so that I could be alerted when the water was boiling. First run it did not whistle, disassembled the lid, inspected the parts, nothing looked amiss. I checked online for instructions on how the parts should be assembled and confirmed it was put together correctly. If it were not for this defect I would give this kettle a much higher rating but because of it I may as well go back to using a pot to boil water. I will edit this review if the seller is able to remedy the issue.

Pretty and durable
I bought this as a gift for a friend. She was looking for a black tea kettle that stands up to a gas stovetop. The flames which creep up the sides haven't harmed the enamel so it's durable.

Cheap and dangerous
This teapot is poorly designed. I thought it looked like a nice teapot from the photo, but it’s a bit small and overall feels very cheap. The handle is a safety concern. It’s moveable and can be placed all the way down to one side. Well as I was pouring hot water it started folding down and the water started spilling out everywhere.

Good Looks, No Substance
So wanted to love this kettle. Love the sleep design and the matte black. However, when it arrived, I. Priced it was a bit bigger and clunkier than I expected. The sleekness and chicness factor took a small hit. But then when I tried to make tea, and k tried twice, it didn’t whistle (which I need) and then when I went to pour. The water came out splashing all over the place!! It was actually a bit of a hazard with boiling water. Not the quality I expected and was bummed. Returned.

Good product
Attractive and “whistle” is not too loud. Only time will tell how the interior holds up

Charming kettle
The perfect size for a small family. There are so many comments about the whistle! It is a charming sound, like a harmonica or a distant train whistle. It makes us smile.

Tea kettle
So i wanted to write a review because it took me so long to choose a tea kettle and I thought I could maybe help somebody else. I chose this tea kettle because it checked a lot of the boxes for me. Here is what I like… I like that it’s brushed stainless steel and not the shiny one, I like that it has a handle that swings down, I like that it makes some sort of sound when it comes to a boil, even though I wish it was a little louder ( this is not a deal breaker for me because i don’t usually leave the kettle unattended i am usually right there in the kitchen doing something else), the handle stays cool so I don’t need a potholder to pour it ( i have a gas stovetop ) because that would be a deal breaker for me, the water pours nicely with the flap up or down unlike what some reviewers said. It heats up just as fast as the tea kettle i was replacing, has no real seam in the bottom but there is a seam about 1/4 way up which most people wouldnt even see. What keeps it from getting 5 stars…It is easy to clean but the lip at the top does prevent you from pouring all of the water out as it gets caught in it and then drips down; i find it is better to pour it all out through the spout and dry the rest. It is definitely not high gauge stainless steel but feels thin and almost tinny. It has somewhat of a metal smell to it but i have a very sensitive nose and regardless it hasnt effected the taste of the tea and I am hoping that will go away with time. It does not look like it will rust and regardless of the thin feel to it, it does seem to be a nice quality kettle. I would say my biggest disappointment is the sound of the “ whistle” but I expected it when i bought it; i am at least satisfied that it makes some sound even though it is very soft. All said and done i do not regret my decision and would buy it again. Update: I have owned the kettle for six months and the outside is stained and looks worn. The handle has loosened and does not stay up well and the little noise that it did make is now sporadic. The Oxo kettle that I replaced after ten years looked newer. All said and done I do regret my decision and would not buy it again
