Works perfectly, easy to install, can’t really see it’s there
Had 4 cats at the time and the next to youngest would sometimes get up on the banister. She’s very agile but it always made me nervous. As you can see it’s a long way to fall. When I got the youngest I had put baby gates across it and attached them with zip ties to the spindles so she wouldn’t fall through. When she was about 6 months old she started using the baby gates to climb up to the banister, but unlike her sister she’s not very agile. I found this and she no longer has anything to use to get up there. The other cat I don’t even see getting up there anymore either. I never liked her up there anyway agile or not. You don’t even notice it’s there. I just weaved it in and out about every two spindles and attached it to the wall with alien tape and wrapped the other end around a spindle and taped it back to itself. It hasn’t budged and I put it up in sept. To pull it off the wall you just have to use heat from like a hair dryer to get the tape to release and either roll or stretch the tape out like you do a command strip so it doesn’t damage the wall. This has worked great!!!

Great cost-effective product. Keeps small animals safe!
This is product as perfect for our needs! We have three cats and one tried to launch herself from the second floor. This product was very easy to install. It took 2 people 20 minutes to install. Not sure why some people are having difficulties with installation.I'm also wondering why people are complaining at a low tech solution for the money. This is a cheap, easy solution that is easy to take down, if needed, and it completely resolves the problem. Also it is virtually invisible. The plastic is very sturdy, so no chance that they will push it out of place.I have peace of mind that my cats won't be taking any tumbles from the second floor.

Useful, basic product
We bought this barrier because we recently obtained two kittens, and they were giving us heart attacks trying to walk along the outside of the bannister that overlooks our family room. Not wanting to have cats literally rain down on us from above, we purchased this product to prevent it.This is an incredibly basic product. It's just a roll of hard, flexible clear plastic, a hole punch, and zip ties. It also includes some screws to attach it to the wall. First thing we did was roll it out and cut to length. We decided to just do one long roll even though our balcony is in two sections. Punching the holes for either side of the bannister poles was the hardest part. I couldn't do it, so my husband had to as his hands are stronger than mine. If you have a better hole punch, it might be worth using it instead. After they were done, you just use the zip ties to fasten it on.It's not the most attractive thing, but at a glance you don't really see it from below and it's not distracting. We didn't bother using the screws with the wall and just tucked the loose ends along the wall and using the wall to hold it in place. The kittens aren't pushing on the ends (they're angrier they can't hang out the middle of it like they want, and one of them regularly walks up to it and hits it.)

Works as wanted
This was just what we needed to keep our kittens from trying to jump through the railings to the first floor. As someone suggested, we wove it between the rails instead of using the zip ties. The price is reasonable, and SO much less than the Plexiglas sheets we were considering. I would totally recommend.

Ferret-proof!
The media could not be loaded. I have three ferrets, and sometimes I like to keep them restricted to the second floor of my house. I was blocking off the top of the stairs with the Midwest small animal exercise pen. However, this left the gaps between the balusters open, and my ferrets were accessing the stairs through those gaps. I bought some of those mesh panels for baby proofing balconies and zip-tied those all around the banister, and that solved the problem for my boys. My girl, however, is too smart for her own good and fears neither man nor god, and she figured out how to climb the mesh and jump down several feet to get to the stairs.Enter this banister shield protector. I had to order two to cover my entire banister, and instead of using the provided zip ties and screws, I just wove the panels between the balusters. On the far end, I had to stick it to the wall with double-sided adhesive to close off the final gap. My little two-and-a-half-pound ninja warrior demon princess can’t climb over it and she can’t dig under it. The fact that it looks cleaner and more sleek than zip-ties and mesh is a nice bonus; I’m just happy that, for now, the ferret rebellion has been thwarted.(If she manages to outsmart this thing, I’ll update this review.)

Works great! -Tip for installing
Takes a little while to install - we heated up an old screw driver to “punch” the holes which worked a lot better than trying to use the punch. Mostly came here to give that tip to others! Has held up really well so far and have had it up for about a half a year I believe. Definitely recommend if you have young children and want to safety proof railings.
