Are paper filters required with this machine pleas?

I use good-quality cheap size 4 filter papers (I get them on Amazon, 3 packs last a long time). I think it comes with a mesh container that you can use instead, but paper filters are more convenient. Invest also in a pack of limescale-removing tablets; this machine nags you with a bright red light if it thinks limescale has built up too much.
