Got this for my dad as a Christmas stocking stuffer…wonderful way to get him to talk about himself! My dad is a quiet, reserved introvert who often doesn’t like to talk or open up. Although his answers are often vague, this little jar of thoughtful questions was a nice gesture to get him to open up more. He was happy to receive it and appreciated the gesture. We all (his kids) enjoyed taking part in the activity and getting to know him around the holidays. The package arrived secure and well protected in a lovely decorative box. The jar is high quality with a nice cork lid and little “made with love” tag to go around the top of the jar. The papers with questions are high quality with a gloss-like finish. The font is bold and large enough to read. The sticker on the front is cute and helpful in that it outlines the categories based on color code. The questions are well thought out, there is a wide variety and the categories span a lifetime, which is relevant and important for an older dad. My favorite category was “family” because they tied back to raising kids, which was nice considering his daughter got him the gift. It allowed us to bond on our specific memories together. I perhaps wish they separated the family and marriage categories, just because my dad is divorced and a lot of those questions are specific to “mom” and marriage, which wasn’t current or relevant to my dad specifically. If your parents are still together, the marriage questions are fantastic. I personally felt like the “family” category was less though because so many questions were specific to marriage. On a positive note, my dad did answer some of the “marriage” questions comfortably in regards to my mom when they were married and if the categories were separated into “family and “marriage,” I likely would’ve skipped the “marriage” one and missed out on those intriguing answers. So all in all, it was a wonderful experience opening this jar and getting to know my dad. More interesting than I expected it to be. An absolutely lovely and thoughtful gift that allows for a priceless bonding experience. You can even add your own questions to the jar if you want to keep the interactive experience going! I would like to try more of these jars.
