Smittybilt 5662424 GEAR Coyote Tan 10' x 6' Trail Shade

I wanted a nice small/ light awning that I could transfer from my tent trailer to the roof rails on my Jeep. This works great. Very fast to set up and even though it was windy when I tested it out, it didn't move.

fulfills its function practical to carry

Easy to set up off the back of my Jeep's spare and gave us a decent amount of shade on the beach. Held up well in strong breezes. NOTE, the shade is 6' wide at the end of the shade but only about 3' wide where it attaches to the spare, so your shade area becomes much smaller as you get closer to the vehicle. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I still highly recommend this product.

I like it. Although it's not as sturdy in comparison to a ARB awning, it's also a fraction of the cost. Plus I have the added benefit that I can now mount it on any portion of my roof rack giving this simple design more versatility. I also have an FJ Cruiser and I experimented with it some and made an easy modification to get rid of that center sag and now it drains water instead of collecting it. I also got a can of silicone waterproofing spray and treated both sides. Now I have the ability to use it at the beach or a camp site whenever I want EZ shade or rain protection. I cannot complain for the price. This is about the only design out there that will fit most if not all vehicles. Once you set it up, which takes about ten minutes, you will be able to see what is needed to make yours more customized for your vehicle. FJ Cruiser owner's are notorious for constantly modifying existing designs to make things better. All I did was the same thing. I took a great product and made it better.

Fantastic item. Easy set up and easy take down. It is also very sturdy in the wind. Used it several times now at Galveston, and worked great! Nifty shade to help you escape the sun! I recommend highly to any Jeep owner!

Small and thin, hard to stand it up

Awesome product. I’m not a huge fan of smittybuilt but this works great!

I used it by hooking it up to the back of my 4Runner. It provides a small amount of shade since it is a narrow piece of material. Its fairly easy to put up and packs nicely in the carrier that comes with it. You are not going to get a lot of people under the canopy out of the sun especially if you are sitting in chairs. You definitely have to use the tie down cords to anchor it.
