A keto kitchen treasure--low-carb made delicious and easy!
I've been a fan of author Sevigny's I Breathe I'm Hungry recipe blog for 4+ years. Her work is my #1 go-to for keto meal planning. Not a single recipe has ever disappointed. Anytime I need to counter the myth that a keto diet lacks variety or veggies, I just share an IBIH link and rest my case!So, I was already primed to love this new book, Keto for Life, but it has exceeded my high expectations. It's a keto kitchen treasure, such a pleasure to have this work in print form for off-screen meal planning (and foodie swooning)!Here's what a love about it:===The Meal Plans===Chapter 2 offers a 4 week meal plan. Each plan has its daily macros worked up and a weekly shopping list in quantities for 1 person, so it's very easy to multiple for any number of people. The meal plans are a great way to get going fast and know the total day's macros are balanced.The calorie counts for the meal plans are pretty low-moderate (1200-1600) and the other macros also moderate, which makes room for me to add some extra protein for my higher personal macros. The carb counts are often well under 20g ECC also, so there's wiggle room to squeeze in a bit more veg or increase serving sizes a little--the flexibility is nice!===The Recipes===Well-organized and excellent variety of recipes from several culinary "genres." Colorful veggies worked in at every opportunity, really maximizing all the delicious nutrition one enjoy despite a keto-low carb count!Customizing new meal plans (or just picking out recipes individually) is made very easy with at-a-glance macros for calories, fat, protein, carbs, fiber, net carbs in a color-bar footer for each recipe. IBIH recipes are typically easy to make and use easy-to-find ingredients. The same holds true in Keto for Life!Each recipe is prefaced with a quick note from Sevigny about the recipe (similar to those found in the blog--fun and motivating to read) and a helpful info line for yield, serving size, prep time, and cook time. I'm grateful that ingredients are offered in both volume and weight measures as appropriate since I use a lot of weight measurement for carb-counting precision.===The Book Design===The book's graphic and info organization design are perfection--so easy to navigate and so visually inspiring. As a document designer interested in user experience and usability, I'm impressed! Great use of color, sidebar spaces, illustrations, photographs, and call-out boxes such as "Make it Easy," "Pro Tips," and "Family-Friendly Tip."The food photography is gorgeous, as per usual for the I Breathe I'm Hungry website. From my years enjoying IBIH recipes, I know that they turn out every bit as appealing and delicious as they look in these photos, too. I want to make every single thing in this book!===Thoughtful Appendices===- recommended resources (keto books, blogs, sites, forums, food brands)- at-a-glance visual index of all the recipes using small images for each- allergen index for each recipe noting which recipes are dairy free, nut free, egg free, or vegetarian. (I'm assuming gluten/wheat isn't listed here because none of the recipes include that allergen.)===Orientation===And for those new to keto, Keto for Life offers a 40-page orientation to the keto diet, offering lots of helpful how-to info kept accessible, never overwhelming. It also includes tips on useful kitchen appliances for keto cooking and tips on especially low-carb ingredient alternatives, such as veggie comparison charts (e.g. kale vs collards: similar foods, big carb difference!).Keto for Life will be my new favorite cookbook for a very long time! I anticipate using it both while "doing keto" and even when I'm "off keto" because these recipes are healthy, delicious, practical, and easy to make either way!

I cannot stress how much I LOVE this one
OMG people! If you have been following Mellissa's blog for any time now, this book is the BOMB! I cannot stress how much I LOVE this one! All new recipes and they are fabulous! Pictures and nutritional info for each one. I got this about four days ago and I have already made the Cauliflower Risoto (OMG, I ate all six servings for dinner in one night--it was to die for!), and tonight I made the Cajun Fish Fingers with some fish my husband brough back from North Dakota --- the Remoulade recipe she has to go with it is AWESOME. The cream cheese noodles are out of this world with the Alfredo sauce recipe. I love that she gives her techniques for riced cauliflower and zuchinni noodles so you don't get watered down or gooey veggie rice or noodles! I'm making the cauliflower grits with shrimp tomorrow And.... l love her recipes for drinks. Got a batch of Grapefruit Simple Syrup for some Martinis later this week when the girls come over. Will be making her 2 awesone hummus recipes and using pork rinds to dip in. Just wanted to let you all know that I bought the book at full price and no one is paying me for this review. I can't wait to make more of these awesome, tasty recipes. All I can say is "Mellissa, what took you so long to give us such a great book?" I took my book to Staples and had it ring bound so it would lay flat in my holder. This is AWESOME,., Thank you, Mellissa, for all of these great recipes!UPDATE~ Had to comment on the Eggplant Parmesan Recipe. I have made it 4 times since my review. I got the eggplant for 50 Cents each and made the stacks like those pictured on the cover...OMG! Fabulous! I used the Keto Marinara sauce recipe (that one by itself is awesome as well), fresh mozzarella and fresh basil and they were so good, the second time I made them, I invited people over! They are gorgeous and yummy and decadent! Wish I had taken a pic. It looked just like hers!

So full of yumminess!!
I opened my door yesterday morning and to my amazement I saw that this beauty had arrived. I couldn't contain myself. This book is filled with some of the most amazing resources. Many that I read verbatim to my husband upon its arrival. :-) Mellissa makes living the keto lifestyle so easy and enjoyable. She is the one who got my husband to eat cauliflower and many other things that I thought he would never even try.I was thrilled to see that it is written with in the same manner as Mellissa's blog. Her words are always so entertaining and make you feel as if you are spending time with a good friend. The recipe sections are well thought out, beautifully photographed and full of yumminess. She takes all the work out of eating well and being healthy.Like many others my husband and I have wadded in the pool of keto off and on for a few years. We have been back on the band wagon for a little over a week and are doing exceptionally well. Like the prodigal son, our keto home is with Mellissa and this book is going to be my lifeline. I am so excited!

Great keto info…recipes are not simple
Did a great job explaining & motivating you into the keto journey! Recipes are different, quite involved. As a southerner, I’ve never heard of many of the dishes or ingredients.

Ce livre surprend déjà par son épaisseur mais aussi par la richesse et la précision des recherches de l’auteure. Tout y est, absolument tout ce qui peut faire envie, des pickels aux cocktails en passant par les desserts, en 384 pages! Une photo pour chaque recette, des index pour s’y retrouver facilement, j’adore!Nous sommes végétariens et après avoir cherché des livres de recettes végétariens ou vegan keto, j’ai renoncé: mal écrits, sans photos...Il n’y a qu’à voir tous les marques page que j’ai mis, ces recettes me parlent, il y a beaucoup de recettes de légumes et de sauces que l’on peut adapter à ses goûts. Pas d’ingrédients introuvables, les recettes sont simples mais bien pensées, parfaitement assaisonnées: ça va vite et c’est sain!Je dois faire un petit travail de conversion des cups en grammes (je préfère peser, question d’habitude ) mais ensuite tout roule!J’ai vu que l’auteur a écrit un autre livre, je me réjouis de l’acquérir aussi!

SAVE YOURSELF. BUY THE BOOK!
If you don't buy this book you're crazy! The tips and tricks alone are worth the read. The pictures are beautiful so you can see what your creation might or should look like. I have just begun my Keto eating and have discovered that my family members can also benefit from some of the recipes. In 2 weeks I have lost 9 pounds of fat, around my mid section and legs. I am not a huge person and in fact have a lot of body muscle but my co-workers have begun to ask me if I am okay. They say I look better than I have for years but you know what happens when you're a little older. People sometimes think the worst. I am a 66 year old female. Anyway, there is Keto and there is me. I still don't know a macro from a micro and I don't weigh my food. I can say that I don't overeat because this eat fat burn fat theory keeps me full longer. I'm watching my carbs and calories, staying away from wheat flour and sugars, and for now I am finding me because I know I am in there. I am even feeling good enough for some light exercises. The recipes in the book are easy and if you need any explanation you can go to the author's website. It's in the book. Make sure you eat well in order to obtain proper nutrition levels. Happy eating and losing to everyone.

Keto for life is a must have for those wanting to try a ketogenic lifestyle.
Love this book! I am subscribed to Melissa Sevigny’s blog, I breathe, I’m hungry, have been for a few years now and I have always loved her recipes. Having the book to hand is really convenient, it’s set out brilliantly, the photos are well taken and all the recipes are easy to read and the ingredients are pretty much easily accessible here in the uk. If you can’t get something in the shops, you can usually find it online, Amazon is usually pretty good for these things.For anybody thinking of trying a ketogenic diet, this book is a must! The introduction introduces the basic tenets of keto, tells you what you to expect when you enter ketosis, tips and tricks, how to maintain and stay ketogenic for life. There is also a four week meal plan split into weekly plans with a list of ingredients and things you’ll need for each week.I would thoroughly recommend this book over other ketogenic recipe books and also subscribe to her blog.

Ich liebe dieses Buch!Wer sich ketogen ernähren möchte oder es bereits tut, erhält mit diesem Buch viele gute Informationen. Die Rezepte sind toll und umfangreich, allerdings müssen die Mengenangaben umgerechnet werden. Aber wenn man sich die richtigen Messbecher dazu kauft, ist auch das easy.

Very well thought out recipees
This is actually a great book. Even though I'm no longer following Keto, I will keep this book as it just has some great ideas in it you would never find in a "standard" cookbook.
