One of the better type of Air Conditioner
I'm writing this review a bit early but I have my Air Conditioner and It works perfectly hasn't broke down yet but i've only used it in Fan mode for the most part cause it hasn't been hot enough to really use it yet.... fits my Wall almost perfectly and it perfect for my apartment the 2 days it was warm in my apartment and had it on cool mode I loved how good it chilled my apartment I can tell its going to be very refreshing during the summer instead of last summer when my ac was broke and I was sweating my ass off... I live in an 5 story apartment complex with heat on the rise It sucked

I like the way it tests the water
Or the air...whatever. As another reviewer mentioned, this model turns on every 10 minutes in Auto mode to check the temperature. If within tolerance level it remains on for only 15 seconds. I have never had a wall unit with that feature. It's kind of interesting to hear it come on and guess whether or not it will remain on. So far I'd say I'm batting roughly 70%. Kind of annoying to be that low but I'll blame the nearby dehumidifier for throwing me off.Otherwise this is a powerful unit that doesn't need to remain on nearly as long as my prior Garrison model. Moderate noise, certainly not as loud as some have claimed. It was surprisingly easy to install and not as heavy as it looks. Fortunately I already had the required hole for the ground wire that was emphasized within the manual, needed in the front lower left of the sleeve. The manual itself is better than most, particularly with the grille instructions. My Garrison already had the dual intake grille required for the Frigidaire model. But I decided to swap it out anyway, since the new one looked so good and included tons of new foam to attach. The only issue there was the manual called for several strips of 3/8 foam which the box did not include. The length was correct but they were 1 inch wide not 3/8. At the back of the machine I figured the Frigidaire would have no trouble squishing 1 inch to 3/8.I'm deducting 1 star partially because it hasn't proven itself over the long haul, and primarily because the louvers were quite stiff especially up and down. That is one aspect that the Garrison dominates this Frigidaire. Initially it was startling how rigid and unmovable the louvers were. Even my neighbor who normally has no trouble forcing anything backed off and said he didn't want to break anything. Finally I got it to move left and right a little bit. It did require a heck of a force and basically removing the louver from the bottom edge of the enclosure to convince it to aim further upward.

They delivered a cheaper model too bulky to return. Disappointed

NOT PERFECT, BUT ONE OF THE BETTER UNITS AVAILABLE
First of all, I want to mention that all the air conditioners mentioned in this review are 12000 BTU, 115 volt through-the-wall air conditioners. I received this air conditioner by default. I ordered a Midea through a third-party Amazon vendor and was surprised and unhappy to see that Fedex had delivered a Frigidaire. Eventually I spoke with the vendor, and he said that he no longer had any Midea units in stock and had substituted the more expensive Frigidaire at no extra charge. I told him that my biggest concern was the noise level. He looked at his records and stated that on the lowest setting, the Midea had a noise level of 56.5 decibels and the Frigidaire has a decibel level of 56.4. They sound about the same to me, but a lot depends on where you are sitting. My favorite spot just happens to be where the sound is loudest, and I am not amused. On the box, Frigidaire states that this is the Quietest Frigidaire Series Yet; I believe that statement is false. I owned a Frigidaire Home Comfort unit earlier this summer. It was MUCH quieter than this unit. Frigidaire's website states that the Home Comfort unit has a decibel rating of 57, but I don't believe it. It was VERY quiet, though it was not as quiet as central air conditioning. Unfortunately, it rarely shut off because it has a temperature variance of less than one degree. As it states in the Book of Sirach in the Bible, "He who talks too much is detested." I soon detested that unit and had it replaced. As for the Frigidaire unit I am currently reviewing, I would say that it is relatively quiet for a 12000 BTU through-the-wall unit, but you still have to raise your voice to talk over it. According to my calculations, it has a temperature variance of 1.8 degrees. I wish the variance were 2-3 degrees; then when it shuts off, it would stay off longer. Nevertheless, this unit will shut off for ten minutes when it reaches the desired temperature, if it is not too warm outside. It does have two great features, both involving the fan. When the unit reaches the desired temperature, the fan continues to run for only one minute rather than the three minutes found on many units. Even better, when it tests the air temperature every ten minutes, the fan runs for a mere 15 seconds! I have also recently owned two Garrison air conditioners, which I thought a bit quieter than this one. Unfortunately, both of them eventually put out a chemical smell, which I attributed to a coolant leak. Addendum 4/6/19. I turned my air conditioner on again because the weather is warm again and now the compressor is twice as loud as it was before and the fan is making a squealing noise like it desperately needs to be oiled. I am going to have to call Frigidaire (Electrolux) and see what can be done. The unit is only seven months old. Addendum 4/29/19. Frigidaire e-mailed me today and said they had no replacements in stock and were sending me a debit card for the purchase price I paid for the Midea, which is $200 less than what it costs to replace the Frigidaire.
