Great product. works beautifully on Mac
This is a great product to provide a wide workplace for single video output machines, or maybe for a dual screen terminal session for notebooks (without using the notebook screen as one of them). I'd waited for the digital version to come out, as I wanted to use my DVI inputs on the monitors. I had expected DVI input to the device, so was mildly disappointed to find it's VGA input, DVI output. (so back to the dvi->vga adapter for the mac). But it works great. installed like a dream. (but did have to go to preferences and manually tell the mac that I had a 2800 wide display). works fine, the screen is stretched across the two monitors.Lesson #1. get monitors with the thinnest side frames possible, to reduce the "gap" in the middle of the display.Lesson #2. Adjust your preferences so that windows open up in the left or right side of the display. otherwise, they will tend to open in the middle and be interrupted by the monitor edge gap. Especially annoying when you light up a Windows session over citrix, as things like powerpoint will insist on centering the display, so you end up dragging the window to the left or right a lot.But overall, this is great. Move my Eyetv or audio editing on one monitor and do other work on the other. Most happy with this, and a whole lot cheaper than buying a 36" monitor.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT after firmware update for windows 8
This has exceeded my expectations and I am very happy. I am able to run three screens (laptop + 2 monitors). Please note the following: Your satisfaction is dependent on your monitors. I bought cheap monitors that only had 1600X600 resolution. DO NOT DO THIS. I upgraded to two 24 inch 1920X1080 monitors and my resolution is perfect. I would also buy two identical monitors but you dont have too. They have to support the same resolution though. Just buy two identical monitors and you will be fine. Its worth the investment. The difference between this and the USB products is the UNCOMPRESSED signal through the VGA output on my laptop. There is no tearing. I am able to run three HD movies in each screen without a problem. Try that with the USB product!!I am able to open separate programs in each window without a hitch. No more flipping screens. You will also need to upgrade the firmware. There is a 1/10/14 release for windows 8 that fixed a screen issue. Make sure you do this.Do yourself a favor and buy this product if you want a professional grade multi screen solution.

Works But With A Few Notes
I ordered this device for my manager who wanted to have two monitors hooked up to his laptop VGA port. (Docking station option did not support this) This was one of the few devices on the market with the ability to do this. I installed the software on and assumed I should see 3 separate displays. Instead I only saw 2 displays but the second display was very wide. I expected the device to replicate two independent monitors. This is not how the device works. Bandwidth through the USB is far less than bandwidth sent through a VGA/DVI/HDMI port. So the USB hardware is to not able to replicate two independent displays and get the timings right. Instead the Matrox software allows you to 'split' the expanded screen (3300 x 1200 or something) in half so each monitor acts as an independent display. This is an important difference. With independent displays the monitors must be side by side or stacked. This also means in extended desktop mode your task bar is expanded across both displays. Both items may not matter but something the user should be aware of before buying. Also the software on the CD is out dated and does not work well with Windows 7 32 or 64 bit and Office 2010- mainly Outlook. Download and install the Power Desk software from the Matrox site and this will fix any issues you would otherwise encounter.

Works great! Love it!
I am using the Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Edition with my HP Elitebook 8730w and HP 2008 Advanced Docking Station. I have 1 22" monitor connected to the DVI port on the docking station and two 22" monitors connected to the DualHead2Go which is connected to the VGA port of the docking station. This gives me 3 22" monitors in total. All three monitors are 1680x1050 resolution. I will soon be upgrading to 3 24" monitors @ 1920x1080. I love this setup as it gives me plenty of work space without having to open/close/rearrange windows all the time. Had no problems setting it up. I am running Vista 64.

Hair Puller Going Back - Poor Documentation
Failed to work with my office HP ZBook15 and two Dell 24-inch Monitors S2340M. Had an analog version working with an old PC that has worked flawlessly. Bought a second Analog verison which was always a hair puller, that would stop working from time to time and cause a lot of hair pulling. This is the third one I've purchased and this is going back to Amazon. After about 4 hours of hair pulling I give up. I know it is Xmas eve but they are closed from Dec 24 thru Jan 1 and I have office work I need to do. When these Matrox units work, the hardware seems great. But one thing about their products which is universal is terrible documentation and software. They have pictures showing how to hook this up but say NOTHING about the cables which plug into the monitor on the monitor side. E.g. can you use a DVI-D or DVI-I? Their box has a DVI-I coming out but my Dell Monitors have DVD-D coming in. Years ago I called their tech support and they were pretty useless. Their website FAQs again, say nothing about the cable compatibility. The software did not want to run on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. I'd get these confusing error messages. Or nothing at all would happen when I'd try to launch it. "Unable to start Matrox PowerDesk. Wait a while, and then try again." Another issue they do not discuss is that they claim it will drive two 1920x1080 external monitors--however, they fail to highlight that you can not do this using VGA cables, you need the DVI-X? cables to do it. However, in my case it did not work with either cable type.
