Great stepping stone to healing
Great book. Has helped me a lot. I'm going through PTSD right now and definitely need therapy or some pills, but refuse to go that route ever again. Been having a hard time getting better, but I bought a ton of books like this one, and I'm determined to get better, and am finding that this book is a great stepping stone for me, especially when there are other avenues I should be taking right now.Never give up, and have hope and reread these books over and over, and you will find some light at the end of the tunnel, if you focus hard. It's teaching me how to focus on why I'm angry, and is that anger warranted, or am I over analyzing things. Does the same for stress, anxiety and panic, but you've got to put in the work. I read several different books a day, this being one of them, and I've been down this road several times in my past, and I'm determined to turn myself around again, so it's fair to say with all of that, this book does help me get through my bull$hit. Would definitely buy more stuff from this author.

Comprehensive CBT interventions simplified for layperson's use...
Gillihan condenses CBT into applicable interventions that guide individuals to change negative thoughts, core beliefs, and maladaptive behaviors. As an mental health professional (MHP) with a Master's degree in psychotherapy (specifically, CBT), I endorse this book for individuals who are looking for practical tools and interventions to help with specific issues/problems. One premise of CBT is that we teach clients that the one hour of therapy session that focuses on the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client is not the primary agent of change. (This concept countermands other theoretical orientations and constructs in psychology in which the therapeutic relationship is the primary agent of change.) Rather, the therapy occurs when applying CBT interventions the other six days and 23 hours per week outside the therapy sessions and outside the therapist/client relationship. That does not mean that therapy sessions should not take place; however, the purpose of therapy is to equip clients with applicable tools and interventions that they can put into practice. Gillihan's book provides a comprehensive set of applicable CBT interventions that have been simplified for the layperson's use.(I do not know Seth J. Gillihan, Ph.D., and I purchased his book because of my CBT background.)-- Kat Foley, MA, MHP

CBT Best guide
CBT is so popular today, but this book is making it just simple, I read it and use it! Its also very well represented, nice design and layout, which makes it a "very simple" read

My Introduction to Psychotherapy
This is my first book-introduction to psychotherapy at the stage of choosing my method. And I plunged into behavioral therapy for 5 long years. I look at this book very often and wrote out many daily tricks for myself.
