The Sum of All Fears
It was a riveting read. Hard to put down. Characters were well developed. Several story lines were juggled without losing continuity. The only minus to me was the detail on scientific explanation of the workings of the bomb. It was interesting but almost went on too long for me. However, some might enjoy this and find it educational. Good read and excellent as all Tom Clancy's books are.

Terrorists Set Off Nuclear Device In Denver at Super Bowl
This was, I must say, my first Tom Clancy read. The plot was quite good involving a missing nuclear device from Israel; Terrorists of Arab and German extraction as well as a Native American accomplice. Many side plots including a duel between a U.S. and Soviet submarines. The book definitely shows how a real War could escalate out of control due to much confusion. Alot of good spy activity between the major players. The characters were well developed. The hero was CIA Deputy Director Jack Ryan. For my taste, though others may disagree, I found him to be a bit too much of a good guy and superhuman to be believable. I liked the book and found it to be a good -but even with the fine plot, at 914 pages- it was a ponderous read.

utterly plausible!
Tom guessed that Biden would be elected in the form of the fictional Bob Fowler…and the rest of this marvelous story follows from that.Written in 1991, the scenario presented here would be a full order of magnitude easier to accomplish. Then, what with a porous border and Chinese fentanyl pouring in by the ton…who needs nuclear weapons to destroy the US?

Compelling, stunning, thrilling
From the very beginning I could not put this book down. Despite the long passages of nuclear physics and submarmining you might be tempted to skip because you don't understand them, and I recommend you don't, because they are important to the characterizations latter, this is still a page turner that snow balls to a stunning and unbelievable conclusion. Too real and too frightening a possibility. A must read for Clancy and Ryan fans.

Intriguing
As all of the Jack Ryan series written by Clancy, this is a page turner, detailed, well written, hard to put down. A must read.

Kindle Version Has An Inexcusable Problem
This is my favorite of all the Clancy books, but the Kindle version has a problem: within each chapter, Clancy uses "scenes" to go from one character/situation to another, which is a very common and popular way to write. In the print version, every "scene" is separated by the next "scene" by a blank line/space to indicate the end of one scene and the start of another. The Kindle version has eliminated those blank lines and simply runs one scene into another as simply a new paragraph, causing a jarring and confusing transition from one scene to the next. Very annoying.

The Sum Of All Fears
Another fantastic book by the Master of Military & Political thrillers. Tom Clancy's novels about Jack Ryan have been part of my life since i read 'Red October' many, many years ago. After reading the book for about the 12th time, i found it as still relevant today as when Tom wrote it. The leaders & politicians around the World are still more concerned about power & legacy than their people. The book also shows, that any leader/politician are not infallible, they are just has capable of making mistakes as anyone else. They are human after all?
