Great for Displaying 4:3 Content, average quality converter.
The majority of these converters are hit and miss. I have a cheaper one(cost me about $17 two years ago) with same dimensions but plastic. The advantage of this converter is that it is one of the very few that will display your 4:3 content in the proper aspect ratio even though it is being output through HDMI. I bought this for my laserdisc player(CLD-59) so I could feed it through my Onkyo receiver's HDMI inputs which which in turn displays it through my 1080p projector(Epson 3020e). The first images I have shown are from a 30 year old laserdisc of Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. My phone camera doesn't do the picture justice, but to be clear, I can't say the image is HD quality despite what my projector menu displays(notice the 1920x1080 resolution). The third image is from a 25 year old LD of F/X 2. The fourth is a VHS image of Star War Special Edition. I used these pics to show the converter's ability to display 4:3 correctly. This is done by pressing the "FORMAT" button on converter box. It's a little tricky ,as you have to hold if it for few seconds and release while you "scroll" through the choices. I don't view much VHS content these days, but I wanted to confirm that it works on other older video equipment beside my LD player. I even did my VCD player which works as well. I will keep this in it's 4:3 setting so I can use it on all my 4:3 laserdiscs(for the record it does widescreen as well). i will just switch out the other converter when i want to view widescreen. Only get this if you are adamant about viewing your fullscreen versions of tv shows and movies. As far as video quality and reliability(occasional drop outs that last 4-5 secs.), it is an average converter. Hope this helps.

Problem solver
I have an older flat screen that didn't have a HDMI port. Bought this to see if I could hook up my Amazon fire stick and it worked perfectly. Definitely recommend.

Perfect order/product
I was trying to connect my older Wii system to a newer smart TV that had no comports to connect it. After reading many reviews I was hesitant to order this. Glad I did though. It connected quickly & easily. The one con (if you consider it that) is the only way to power it on is by USB connections which I knew from the other reviews. Fortunately the Wii system has a USB port so I connected it there & "presto" - GREAT display & resolution!!I checked various places locally & was told there was nothing on the market to convert the Wii. Just be sure to order the correct device. I ordered AV2HDMI to input my RCA components & have the HDMI out to the smart TV and it's perfect. I also received the order very quickly. I'd order again!!

Not fun at all for me or the kids
Bought this to hook up my Wii for the kids. I have a new Samsung 9000 series tv and it does not have the AV hook ups that the Wii required, so I bought this. While playing the game, the screen goes in and out constantly. Try playing Mario Kart with the screen going in and out every couple of seconds. Not fun at all for me or the kids.

Converts to hdmi plug only . Does not up convert video to HD or improve video at all .
The description of this item would make one believe that it will convert composite to hd video . It only allows toe composite video to be converted to hdmi in that it will allow you to plug your composite only device into an hdmi receptacle on a newer flat screen TV . The video is not enhanced in any way . The converter did what I required it to do . It allowed me to free up the component connection for my Nintendo WII system and have my old Genesis system connected also . Pryor to this I had to disconnect one or the other to play one or the other . It does this just fine , It does not up convert to HD in any manor what so ever . I am not sure if one of the cheaper brands would work just as well . One other negative is this needs another electrical outlet to plug into to . More wires .

The Udigital HDMI Converter worked perfectly when I needed to convert cables for a new blue ray player I had purchased. Once I googled the item I would need to purchase I checked on Amazon for prices. The internet said to expect to pay between $30 to $40 dollars for a converter. I paid much less with this product and am completely satisfied. It serves my purpose efficiently with a great savings for my pocketbook.

Excellent product. It allows me to connect an old directv decoder that only had RCA outputs, to a modern smart TV. It fulfilled what was expected.

Convert Non HDMI Input TV into Smart TV via Chromecast
Was going to purchase a new tv to replace a2005 HD ready flat LCD TV with a smart tv to access a Google chromecast stick. This old TV has no HDMI inputs. I decided to search for an adapter and found this Udigital device http://amzn.to/2vYqTKfIt works perfectly didn’t need any instruction to hook up. Just hook in your A/V wires and the HDMi device. My old TV now is a SMART tv streaming content from my chromecast (wireless connection required). If you don’t want to buy a new smart tv or have a cable box in an extra room (which was my situation), then hook this converter up to your old tv to stream content from a chromecast.
