This was a Christmas present for my 6 year old granddaughter and she loves it. I say loves instead of loved because it is an ongoing process from the simplest to most challenging project. The value for the money is excellent as there are many sewing projects to complete. The directions have pictures and are simple and easy to follow. It comes with 3 oversized durable plastic needles and many colors of embroidery thread, scissors as well, but a pair of child's fiscal school scissors will cut better. She had her own. We completed the shooting star tree ornament together. I instructed her how to thread her needle and the fabric has punch outs to follow along, also the stuffing, buttons, etc are all included so the projects can be completed without purchasing anything. She is 6, so this first project took about 45 minutes and turned out just like the picture, with the exception of having to retread again at the last 4 punch outs, I wish the directions specified how many inches needed, she has a small tape measure and not only would she have loved measuring it out, but we would not have had 4 knots and only just the 2 in the illustrations. I would bet that a 9 or 10 year old will need little direction if they have crafting ability and read on grade level. This kit provides 9 cool projects that progressively test the child's skills. 9 project with all materials for under 25.00 is a win! Half the Materials at a gig chain craft store would cost more! It states age 6 to 10 years, but you should know initially they may need guidance especially if they have never sewn or crafted, but just sitting with a cup of tea or cofee and guiding, she put the needle in the wrong cutout a couple times, while they do it is necessary and fun. I'm grandma so we had tea time, sewing time.

I bought the My First Sewing Kit for Kids 4–7, and I have to say, this product was a lot of fun for my daughter. She really enjoyed putting the pieces together and sewing the designs—great for beginner creativity and coordination.As usual, I’m going to say it: I think it should include a little extra, maybe more materials or design options for the price. That said, it’s a good product overall, and for that reason, I’m giving it 4 stars. Sorry, it doesn’t get the extra star because of the price point.

The materials are of great quality, and the kit offers great value for your money with everything that’s included.The projects are easy to use, and the clear instructions make it simple to follow along. It’s such a fun craft activity for little ones! My daughter, who is five, was able to complete these with just a little help from us, and she felt so proud of what she made.This is the perfect birthday gift for any little girl who loves to create. My 6 year old grandaughter loved this first sewing kit. Great idea to have all the different projects. The plastic beedles worked well, and instructionsceady to follow. Other then tying the knots on the embroidery thread. She was able to sew with only a little guidance.The one thing that coukd be improved was the stickers. We had difficulty separating the stickey felt from the backing. Other then that, she loved it.

This is a nice starter kit for different levels of projects but the scissors are terrible, many of the felt shapes aren’t punched properly, the sticky back frequently doesn’t peel and part of the instructions are missing.I bought for my 6 year old and I’m doing it with her so can navigate some of the issues but I don’t love it.

OMG love this! My daughter is 6 and wanted to learn to sew. She made he unicorn purse right away with very little direction.
