I ended up buying this fabric to test out a new little mending machine I had purchased, rather than using any of my normal fabric collection. With Joann's no longer in business, I need to treat my fabric like a treasure, something I know is likely silly, but I'm nervous. While the little machine was a complete disaster, this fabric was a pleasant surprise! These 100% cotton, large squares are brightly colored and the perfect size for testing out new projects (or maybe even quilting). While the fabric itself is a bit on the thin side, I consider it equivalent to medium-grade quilting cotton. Not the best stuff on the market, but the worst either, making it perfect for testing out a new sewing stitch, small crafting projects, or teaching a child how to sew. The fabric flows easily and is a fantastic value for buying just a colored fabric.

It is NOT cotton. It is woven polyester. Having said that, I would like to note that the fabric is very pretty and soft to the touch and can be made into whatever you want it to be made into, but it is not cotton if that is what you were expecting.

THIS FABRIC BUNDLE THAT I ORDERED TO MAKE A QUILT FOR MY NEPHEW'S WEDDING HAD THE COLORS THAT I NEEDED. I WILL BE ABLE TO FINISH THIS QUILT FOR HIM WITH SUCH A WONDERFUL FEELING.

The good news is that they are indeed cotton. If you need to pre-shrink them before using them, you will lose an inch of both length and width if you wash them in COLD water to minimize shrinking. After washing, you will find that many of them are cut off-grain, some extremely so; if you need to cut large blocks from them, you will lose as much as two more inches lengthwise. They are not tightly woven, which means they ravel a LOT (and shrink a lot) so not the best choice for hand applique. Before washing, the colors are as bright and pretty as the picture portrays them; after washing, not so much, and the more subdued tones now look rather drab. My intention for this product was to make quilt blocks of various designs for a community project, so I can use these for the purpose I intended without having to buy yardage at a store to get variety. Just be aware of the shortcomings. Packages of small cuts from established quilt supply stores would be better quality but also need a longer time to ship, and time is what I don't have right now.
