Loving the xTool engraving pen.
I received my xTool engraving pen and was surprised how well it was packed. It came in a nice sturdy pouch with a zipper.Included was a manual, the engraving pen, a USB cable and loads of drills and sanding attachments and also 2 stencils with letters. All the tools are very well organized in the pouch, so easy to find and get too.It took only several minutes to load up the engraving pen and I could use it right away.I have cheaper engraving tools with a cable, but they don't work as good as this one does or fall apart.I'm very happy with this one and it works like it should. I can recommend this engraving tool, to anyone looking for one. It's very well made and the quality is excellent.

Great description, average function, see why...
Here's a riddle: What's the difference between an engraver and a Dremel? Answer: the Dremel is better, and less expensive?! To be worth it, a device intentionally made as an engraver has to have the correct heft and balance when held in the hand. This engraver throws too much weight behind the hand. Included tooling looks like it came out of a generic Dremel tooling replenishment kit, and is held by the engraver with a collet similar to that of a Dremel. I didn't check, but I wouldn't be surprised if the wrench used to tighten the nut on this tool's collet is the same size as for a Dremel. If it's going to be so Dremel-like, why not just go with a Dremel? Not everything provided with this tool can fit into the nice panel included in the carrying case. That seems to be why additional items are tossed into the case, wrapped in little plastic baggies - in a half organized way.I know when I use a Dremel, I am comforted by a quick ability to shut the motor off. There is only one button on this engraver, and it cycles between five pre-set speed settings. What if you want a speed in between? Sorry. What if you want the speed to be zero? You'll get there eventually.Spindle speed is listed here as up to 28,000 RPM. From the sound of it, I doubt it even gets close. The motor within has few poles, too. I counted about six stable positions (equivalent to six hour settings around a clock face) for the shaft of the motor. The shaft can't rest in any other positions, a very coarse type of operation. The price of $119.99 when I received this engraver is, frankly, astonishingly high. This seems to be an average Dremel knock-off, and should be discounted heavily. As a reviewer, this full amount will be reported as income to me and that is a source of my pain. You paying too much is a pain you can avoid.I can't vouch for the 1hr+ continuous operation. Based on weight, the battery within isn't as heavy as I would expect for this much operation. Even so, my enthusiasm depleted before the charge gave out, so I never got that far. Even so, I hope my experience has been a help in your buying decision.

Needs improvment
There are things I really love about this engraver. It puts out a very high RPM. I like the feel of it in my hand. It has some heft to it that makes it easy for me to control while engraving. On the downside the bits that come with it are garbage. The second and most annoying thing is the fact that I have to toggle through 5 button settings to change speeds. Having a variable speed wheel or different buttons for the speeds would make this thing 5 stars.

It's a REAL pro tool that anyone can use
This Engraving Pen is a perfect tool for my wood craft hobby. The various speeds and variety of attachments let me control how much power I can use on various projects.I've been using it pretty much every day on wood since it arrived and I have yet to recharge it after it's initial charging. One of the best features is while you're charging it, it has a light indicator that shows you how quickly it's charging so you don't have to guess when its fully charged. It's runs slow enough to engrave on my clay pots and powerful enough to clean up my rusted tools and the lightweight case is perfect for storing and organizing my new engraver and its attachments.I've been able to research various other options but I really think this is a good investment for crafters who want a durable and precise hand engraving tool that will last a long time.

A learning curve
Good value for the brand, but there is a learning curve and no instructional tutorials - this would help if wanting to learn a new hobby. It could be user error, but I don't know how to use it. I was excited to try it out, but can't move forward because of thr lack of videos on usage.

EXCELLENT TOOL!!
I’ve used two other engraving pens over the years. One was plug-in, one was USB. The plug-in is a “name-brand” and has served me well for (seriously) over 35 years, but I wanted a cordless with at least as much power as the other had. The USB tool is cordless, and works well, but has very little power even when fully charged…it’s more of a kids toy, in my opinion. Now…this one is EXCEPTIONAL! It has the power I need and comes with a bunch of cutting engraving, sanding, etc. tools, a convenient zippered box to store it all in, plus… It’s USB rechargeable! Comes with the USB cable and the charge is fairly quick, I’ve had things that were quicker, but I have no complaints. What stands out most to me is the power. It has 5 levels, each nice and strong. The other huge plus for me is that is USB rechargeable and fits well in my hand. This is a great company. I’ve looked at laser engravers, etc. for a while and know this to be a good, and reputable company. Definitely, 100% a good product and I highly recommend. ❤️

Works good but has flaws
First let me say the current price of this engraver is way to high for what it does. Next, while it does have some nice speed settings, it's not as easy as it should be to make those speed adjustments. Battery does seem to last a good while and it does do a good job of sanding/grinding on plastics which is what I tested it on. I like the storage container, but it's actually really big and bulky. It does come with a bunch of bits/accessories of many varieties to help you do pretty much all you can do with this engraver/grinding type tool.
