COBI Historical Collection Lockheed P-38 Lightning Plane

I am a long time Lego fan and builder, so I was very apprehensive on Cobi, and waited a very long time before I purchased my first kit. With that being said I am sorry I waited so long. These kits are very well constructed, the directions are very straight forward, and the completed pieces are very well represented.Lego has always said they would never produce "weapons of war" kits, and that leaves a huge hole for us that like history. Cobi has definitely picked that up and have produced very well done kits for very inexpensive prices. I would dare to guess if Lego produced the same kit it would be at least three times more expensive than they are now. As more and more people discover Cobi I anticipate the resale value to continue to rise. These really are well put together pieces and well represent the item they are trying to portray.I would HIGHLY recommend this Cobi kit to any person who likes history and enjoys building Lego's.

I've had my eye on this P-38 for a while, and it finally dropped to a price I liked. It's a great model, and fun to build. Has some nice details, and great shelf presence. Very unique offering, as are most of the COBI items. This one does have a few stickers, but they went on pretty well.NOTE: as far as shipping goes, I believe I was asked if it was going to be a gift or not. It wasn't, so I selected that option. I was surprised to see it shipped to my house just in the COBI P-38 box with shipping labels and stickers put right on the box! Everything was fine inside. But if you keep the boxes for your sets you should be aware.

the cobi plane kits are truly amazing quality.. and fun !this one the p-38 was one of my faves to build...but the selections of the kits is just is pretty amazing..im a huge ww2 plane buff ...i have built 14 of the cobi ww2 plane kits..and all were fun...well detailed way better quality and detailed then "the lego" brand and WAY less expensive ..value is gret.if ur a model builder. .lookin for somthin a bit different and fun...go for it...im 45 year old been building actual model kits since 4 yeaes old and these kits are just great fun, easy and satisfying!give one a try u will not be disappointed!

COBI’s Lockheed P-38 Lightning model is awesome! This is the eighth Cobi WW2 fighter plane I’ve purchased and built. The P-38 is one of my favorite WW2 aircraft and I was looking forward to this kit.The P-38 model is huge compared to Cobi’s other fighter plane kits. The folks at Cobi did a great job engineering simple building blocks into an amazing replica of the iconic plane. The dominant silver colored bricks contrasted nicely with the black and green bricks in the kit and made the directions fairly straightforward.I was absolutely happy with the results of the assembled kit!

Nice detailed brick models. The WWII theme is unique to Cobi, and the boxes are decorated by a historical scene (e.g. the Bismark being attacked by Swordfish torpedo planes. The quality of bricks are on par with Lego, if not as polished, however fit and snap strength are excellent. I'D say Cobi snaps together a bit tighter. This Christmas my kids and I built 5 Cobi models... airplanes P38, P51, P40, a Corsair, and 1 Battleship Bismark. No missing pieces. Stickers seem a bit less durable and sticky, esp around curves and when repositioning, however the stickers are quality additions to the models, and look good when placed properly. The instructions are easy enough for my 6yr old to follow with success. Aside from the brick finish being just a bit less polished than lego and the stickers being a bit less resilient, theses Polish made sets are on par with the Danish standard.

During COVID times, this is a fun home project. Take your time and lay out all the pieces before starting. Also read through the entire step by step directions before starting. It took me about six hours but the final plane is awesome. These kits are not for young kids - but perfect for war buffs. The hardest part is finding a good display place out of the reach of the grandkids.

This is a beautifully designed plane and the toy does it full justice! We put it on a stand in my sons' room and I'm very happy with how it looks (though I think this one didn't include a buildable stand, but other kits do), bearing down on Yamamoto for the KILL! We are adding a Corsair (buildable display stand included), Mustang, & Spitfire very soon to our lineup!

I am shocked at how nice of a model/block kit this wound up being. Excellent quality and instructions - my 5 y/o and I enjoyed putting it together. Awesome P-38 with great detail.
