This item is not as pink and purple as shown in the pictures so it can be used for a boy also
This is great ship play set. My 8-year-old son is absolutely loving it and has played with it for days. It seems to be more of a dark red bottom and I don't see any purple on it, so it's not as much of a girl looking toy as it shows in the pictures. I'm looking at it in person and I think it looks more gender-neutral if you're concerned about it's colors. It's kind of a Lego toy, they can build different scenarios like for water slides going off it and how the room is set up on the inside. If your child is looking for a ship play set type toy, that isn't pirate themed, this is a great toy, especially for an inexpensive price. Also it does float in the water if they want to put it in the bathtub with them or in a big tub of water to play with.

Fun build and the kids loved it in my office
This was a fun and easy build; however there was one piece that was deformed. Fortunately, it was still able to be used. The kids coming to my office enjoyed it.

Lots of pieces for the price
Bought this for my daughter who’s 6 and she loves it. Not your normal Lego brand but it comes with a lot of different pieces and the price was great!

Excelsior kit With lots of fun play possibilities
Of all his presence, this is the one my seven year old got to work on immediately on Christmas morning. He absolutely loves this kid. There are a lot of little details that he appreciated like deck chairs, an island, etc.

Easy to assemble; scaled for minifigs, but no minifigs included
Vacation for the minifigs! The scale on this is perfectly compatible to my daughter's Lego brand minifigs, though there are no minifigs included in the set. The food, drinks, etc. are scaled identically with my daughter's Lego Classic and Lego Friends sets, and it very much reminds me of the Friends Tiny House set that came out last year, just a water version. The only thing this yacht is missing is a bathroom. It has a bedroom, kitchen, recreation area, lounge, steering wheel and waterslide. It even comes with life jackets that fit the Classic minifigs and hanging hooks for them.Assembly was quick and straightforward. The instructions were easy to follow. The pieces are bagged according to section, so you may have 3-4 bags that all have number one on them, but the instructions clearly tell you which numbered bags you need for which steps and give you an image of what piece those bags are for. The main part of this build is the boat base, which is already assembled for you. I found that to be a huge help, as it makes the base of the build structurally stable, as well as saving you large amounts of time and making the set easier to assemble. I wouldn't have been surprised if my daughter could have done this one at 6 or 7. At 9 it was no problem at all and only took her a couple of hours. The only reason we had for removing a star was a common one with knock-off brands, of the way the pieces fit together being inconsistent. Some of the pieces are on the tight side, some on the loose side. The drinks on the deck didn't want to come off the table once assembled. The top 2 pieces both came away before the bottom peg finally let go of the table. Most of the build is okay, and no one bent a nail or bruised a finger trying to put pieces together or get them apart on this build the way some of these knock offs can be, but there were just enough pieces that were uncooperative to justify a slightly lower rating. It's still a great set, though. Especially as the actual Lego brand Tiny House build that she did get last Christmas was almost $70, and this is $30. Don't expect Lego brand quality, but for a knock-off, it's well worth the purchase.
