waka 55mm Circular Polarizing Filter, Ultra Slim 16 Layers MRC CPL Glass Polarizer Filter for Canon Nikon Sony DSLR Cameras Lens

This review is of the WAKA 72mm circular polarizing filter. It is is reasonably priced. It seems to be well designed with a smooth turning, but well damped outer adjustment ring. Measured light loss was 2.1 stops when photographing a scene illuminated with diffused non-polorized light. I experienced no ghosting, resolution loss, distortion or vignetting on a full-frame camera with a zoom lens set at a 24 mm focal length (angle of view = 74.2 degrees). The overall mount depth was 6.7 mm (0.263 in) with an effective depth of 4.37 mm (0.172 in.) and a mounting thread depth of 2.3 mm (0.091 in.) This depth should not create any significant corner vignetting on a full-frame camera when using focal lengths of as short as 20 mm. It fits my Canon zoom lens perfectly. The 2-piece light alloy ring has well machined threads and is correctly sized to easily fit the lens' threaded front ring. Attenuation of reflections of fully polorized sky on a clear day was approximately 8 to 9 stops. Only the very front edge of the rotating front ring is textured, but that is enough surface area to allow for easy adjustment of the polorization angle. This filter can dramatically reduce reflections, improve contrast and darken sky without introducing artifacts. I did not notice any obvious color balance or saturation shift when using this filter, only cancellation of reflections. Attached images show a west facing window with no filter (showing sky reflections) and then with this circular polarizing filter in use and adjusted for maximum reflection attenuation.

I'm happy with this polarizer, it works *beautifully* and looks unexpectedly classy on my camera with its thin golden stripe.This might vary from filter to filter, but the threading on the front side of the filter I received is slightly shallow, so it takes a bit of extra effort to attach my lens cap when I'm done shooting (but it's still possible to secure it with some care)

I had low expectations due to the price - but MAN is this thing awesome. Firstly, it rotates, which is almost unheard of on cheapo polarizers. Secondly, the polarizer quality is surprisingly good! You’re not going to get the really rich, deep blues and greens of a 300$ polarizer, but this definitely gets the job done in terms of making blues and greens pop (specifically on sunny days) and preventing your skies from being washed out in photos AND videos. Additionally, it comes well packaged in a padded box and looks/feels more expensive than it is.

Nice fit to my Lumix FZ80. Yes, it is slim and the lens cap covers OK with minor modification. I haven't fully compared for the image enhancement it is purported to provide, but I would guess I am having to give-up less than 1.5 stops in trade for the polarization effect, and that is good enough for my F2.8 digital camera.

Wanted to get a bit of a better quality CPL for my prime lenses that this fits for and so spent a little more than I would have for your basic VVivitar CPL. The slim build is a nice feature and it's built well. But the effect it gives in relation to the actual filtering isn't as strong as my cheap Vivitar filter so was somewhat disappointed with that.

The gradation isn’t good. I couldn’t use it.It covers most of the glass so the whole shot is darkened.The main objective of a CPL is to be able to “shade” only part of the frame. Otherwise I should have gotten another brand instead.I hope I can still return it.

The filter works as advertised. It represents a great value.The ultra slim design means I have to be extremely careful when I rotate the filter as there is very little surface area and it is way too easy for my clumsy fingers to end up on the glass. Also, it means I have less to hold onto when I unscrew the entire filter.

May be defective product for me. It has spots in my filters so returned it. Not able to fit hood after filter is placed in Nikon 24-70. Same issue with Hoya HD too.

Great little filter for the price, the threads for attaching are better quality an official nikon one I own. The only downside is doesn't have any markers angling the filter so you'll have to make your own.

Easy to attach to my Nikon lens. Does what its supposed to do. Am getting good photo results which reduces some post editing. For the price it's a good buy.

I have bought this filter to fit a Panasonic 8-18mm that i am hiring as i need a wide angle lens for a shoot hence i needed a Polarized filter. So far i am impressed excellent quality.
