Didn't plan on reviewing oven mitts this morning
There is always a plethora of companies when you purchase something on Amazon that ask you to rate them. Most of the time I am just too lazy to do so. Or it makes no sense.I would have assumed this would have been the case with the oven mitts I recently purchased. I mean, how much can you really say about oven mitts?Until now.Upon opening the package received Prime next day, because yeah, I'm a baller and it is even part of my Match.Com profile. So I thought to myself, yeah, that's a nice looking mitt, but before I go further, let me preface this:You see, I have been in the market for oven mitts probably at least two years now. Many a heated hand or the occasional burnt finger, many oven mitts of today just are not built to take the heat; pun intended. You don't know what real pain or struggle is in life until, come 3 AM on a Friday night/Saturday morning, you are buzzed and trying to get your tray of tater tots and pizza rolls out of the oven. They cook at 425 degrees. (Well at least at those times of days they do) These new age pot holders are typically rated to 400 degrees. Quite the dilemma. They either heat up too much and burn a hole in the finger tips or heat up and meld to the pan to make you look like some household broke a** looking terminator robot. Seriously, look at yourself in the mirror next time that happens with your trash pot holders. So finally, after trying many household name brand pot holders, I ran across these on Amazon. They had a higher than average working heat rating of 480 degrees. Appearance on the website, they looked easy to clean and looked big enough to protect your wrist from casserole/cookie tray pan edge burn. Plus, the going rate for ONE mitt rated for 400 degrees is about $9.99 on average, so TWO for $13.99 was a steal. Little did I know that I would definitely be the big winner here.I didn't try them out day one, I gave it an extra 24 hours; I needed to let this all sink in. I made a dinner which entailed broiled finished pork chops and I also made some mashed potatoes on the stove top.Checking and turning the pork chops halfway through is usually a 50/50 chance of a decent burn. Not today. I slipped a mitt on and honestly, was amazed at the comfort of the glove. I reached in the hot oven and grab that tray out like a boss. No singed arm hairs, no hot hand or burning fingers. Just a man and a pan. Well, I flipped those chops over and confidently put them back in the broiler for final finishing. In the mean time, the potatoes were al dente, so I grabbed both mitts and pulled the stock pot off the stove to drain them. Guess what? No hot spots, burns, hot handles, or steam burns were had this day!! Victory was mine! These mitts are honestly the best kitchen mitts I have owned in years. (I really am not joking, having worked/owned a restaurant, I would have loved to have had these in my kitchen.)I bought the gray ones because I didn't want to make the other kitchen accessories feel that they would not get the attention they deserved.Look no further, this is the set of mitts you have always wanted and deserved. Hell, you might even hand them down to your grandchildren some day.

Great oven mitts
These are wonderful oven mitts. They are flexible enough and protect your hands from high oven heat.

Great protection
Long enough to protect the forearm as you reach into the over and try to avoid making contact with a hot oven rack. The silicone stripes mean a secure hold on glass or metal dishes. Best oven mitts we have ever used.

well made
I bought these to keep from burning the back of my hands and upper arms when removing items from the oven. They work for that purpose . Not sure I like the silicon 'striping' as it has a 'sticky' feel when I remove things from the oven. So , far they work as expected.

Goldilocks Oven Mitts....Not Too Bulky, Not Too Thin....Protect Well from Heat
I believe my last oven mitts were from the Paleozoic Era. I have sent them to the Smithsonian for evaluation. After a LOT of searching, I landed on these new ones. Love them---b/c they are flexible enough to grab handles of giant lasagna pans and yet ALSO protect well from the heat. The step up for me are the silicone ribs on the outside--they make it easier to grip hot oddly shaped pans that might not have actual handles. Unlike some that have a lot of silicone on them, these are not so "sticky" as to make it hard to shift your hands around. Also--the turquoise color is great for my decor ... rah-rah!

Excited over mittens...
TLDR: works great for me, no heat leaking through, no melting or warping, comfortable, easy enough to clean. Everyone has different experiences with products, but my purchase was solid.Full review:Never thought I'd be able to give a positive review of oven mitts, but here I am. I've gone through over a dozen oven mitts in 3 years... all of which struggled to beat the heat of my oven pans and casserole dishes. Some were cloth, rubber coated, silicone coated, all silicone, ultra "might-as-well-be-a-memory-foam-mattress" padded thick dish rags, some the shape of Pac-Man (which is totally irrelevant but they were really cute and I hated that they didn't work against the heat). I bought from Amazon, from Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Marshalls, Kohl's, you name it I tried it because I was so tired of getting burned through mitts just moving a pan to a countertop for 4 seconds. I promise I'm not creating high heat laboratory experiments, playing with lasers beams, placing my hands on the Arizona summer sidewalks, etc.; I just really like cooking and apparently 325-450° is too much for most mitts even though they are supposedly made for handling stuff that comes out of a hot oven. Some even deteriorated, and one melted, after a few months of use (and they leave that horrible burn smell behind after every use, yuck). But THESE oven mitts? No melt, no smell, and I actually feel safe using them the past few months. I intentionally held on to a hot tray for a good minute to test them and I didn't get any serious heat through the mitts. I feel like I can safely carry hot/heavy casserole dishes this holiday from kitchen to dining table and stand there patiently waiting for people to move out of my way without worrying about dropping the hot dish or burning my hand. It's a weird thing to be excited about, but I'll own it.Honestly, I was a bit worried about the textured pattern on the outside of the mitts when they first arrived, I thought they'd easily melt, but I've thus far been proven incorrect. I inspect after every use because of my past experiences with mitts, and haven't noticed any changes to the texture or materials. So far, I'm impressed. They are long and protect my arms when using my small upper convection oven, where sometimes reaching in such a small space I'll bump my wrist on the hot door. (They go maybe 3 inches past my wrist, so not too long but still enough protection). They are padded, but I haven't had any fluffs come out of the padding yet. I've had mitts in the past that unraveled on the inside after just a few weeks of use. I have cleaned them once, which was easy to do, but I recommend using a real towel or a very damp cloth to do so. Paper towel fibers easily stick to the material of these mitts (at least from my experience).Overall, a good buy for me. No problems in 3 months of use, but if something happens then I'll update the review. I gifted one to a friend last month and they said they enjoy baking more because of the mitts (:

Excellent Value
You get what you pay for... These are a little more expensive but worth it. These mitts are comfortable and, more importantly, protective. The silicon ribs are a nice touch to improve grip. These have a good feel to them when working in the kitchen and seem very durable.

Works perfectly
Thick and insulating. The silicone strips are appreciated when handling glass ovenware.
