Thank you for your question Lisa! Don’t leave it in the soil. It will corrode the probe and ruin the soil meter. Just insert in different places of the same pot to get better understanding of the water level. It should take few seconds to test 1 pot, then wipe the probe with a dry cloth or paper towel before storing it. Always store in a dry place away from direct sun. This will keep the probe good for a while.
