buy this knife dont think
As a chef, I love this knife cheap and easy to use and easy to sharpen and can be useful in every type of work in the kitchen, I got many knives but I respect this company, I started my career as chef with this knife back 2006 in Australia when I was getting trained to become a chef, check my youtube channel chef and knife search in youtube

Received damaged product
Received product in a random plastic case which doesn't even have victorinox logo. Moreover the knife is damaged. Knife edge is broken at a few places and there are so many scratches all over the blade and handle. Highly disappointed with the retailer.

Topnotch product mediocre packaging
Product is excellent but the packing was pathetic. It didn’t have the standard Victorinox packing that usualky comes with the package..So I think the box was opened and then reshipped

Wow! Where did my finger ends go!
Well what can I say! My wife spends her evenings hoping and praying that I wont use this knife, she is terrified that I will accidentally cut off one of my arms or slice through the kitchen worktop. She has vowed to me that she will not go anywhere near this thing as long as she lives. It was so sharp on arrival that the postman was shaking with fear as he was convinced it was going to make its way out of the more-than-substantial packaging and, as he put it 'go for him'. The first thing I did when I opened it was the usual sensible manly test and check the edge for sharpness with my thumb. All I can say is that I now have to unlock my phone with my finger as the thumbprint that was once so unique to me is no more, it has been shaved clean off and now resembles the pattern on a worn rubber glove. When tested in the more usual fashion on regular household groceries like tomatoes it performs exceptionally. It is a little ungainly to use when coupled with the chain-mail glove on my other hand, but I have no complaints on the performance of the knife itself. I enjoyed using it so much I made a special trip out to get more groceries, just to allow me the pleasure of using this new deadly household utensil. What a buy.

A real chef's knife
Forget those stupidly expensive knives that cost a month's wages, and another month's wages to pay to get professionally resharpened. This is the knife that real working chefs use daily. Tough enough for swede yet light and flexible enough for delicate salad work.Kept properly honed, this will practically fall through even a soft tomato under its own weight like it was thin air.Perfectly balanced and has easily the best handle I've ever used - comfortable, indestructible and non-slip even with greasy hands.I've seen examples of these that were decades old working like new in commercial kitchens. An absolute masterpiece.

A wonderful everyday tool at a bargain price!
I am someone who really appreciates well-made tools that aren't flashy but do the job they're designed for flawlessly. This knife definitely falls into that category! The blade feels balanced and looks to be of great quality, and preparing food with it has been a joy so far. All the reviews I've read rave about the value for money this knife represents, and I have to say they're right. Victorinox is a venerable brand and unlike some others who continue to trade on past glories whilst putting out an inferior product, it seems this Swiss manufacturer still lives up to their reputation. Some people might not like the Fibrox (a kind of mineral fibre) handle, but I feel like it is more practical than a wood one if anything, and it feels reassuringly grippy in your palm - no accidental slips! I reckon you'd have to spend at least 4 or 5 times the money to get a knife that was objectively 'better' and even then, with most flashy knives you're paying for the way it looks or the hand crafted nature. This knife is perfect for me and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other cooking enthusiasts, or even professionals looking for a bargain! I'm now considering picking up other knives in Victorinox's Fibrox range.

Excellent knife
Victorinox know knives, and this is a bargain knife. It's a plastic handle, but it's very grippy. There's no chance of it slipping and it's comfortable to hold. The blade is reasonably thin for its size, this makes cutting through bigger items easier as it doesn't wedge itself in.This knife won't turn heads, it looks plain, but it gives great results. The factory edge passed the paper test with flying colours. I can see why America's Test Kitchen recommends this knife.Note: This is a large knife. If you have small hands, or aren't comfortable handling large knives go for something smaller.

I really wanted this pleasure but...
Finally got my hands on one of these knives this morning....hand actually & it immediately felt awkward to hold. Like this?....no, like this...ummm, maybe this...hold on...(grabs usual knife) ahhhh...should be like this. But it isn't, can't find a comfortable grip at all.Lightweight for sure...too much so for me & probably the source of my above frustration. Grasp it fully around the handle & it's a feather at point of blade contact....to get any downward pressure I'm needing to extend my index finger along the top of the blade so as to then be able to push down on it, as you do when using a knife/fork for dinner....as I say, neither feels right at all.And push down on it I certainly must......either there's hundreds of folk telling giant porkies or I've been sent the return, after it had spent the weekend cutting ceramic floor tiles for someone.Quite sharp from handle to around three inches, the remaining five quite blunt. No section will slice any paper even with a sawing motion...I can run my finger along the entire length, even with a gentle pressure without a hint of pending injury. A ripe tomato will slice top end of blade, with pressure....bottom end won't break into it, press/saw away 'til the tomato is squashed. Returned sadly.Update....ordered a replacement and this was without issue....but too late for me. the Mercer Millenia 9" had arrived...so much more comfy to hold, even sharper it seems...and a tenner cheaper....no contest
