Quality pastels, good price!
I bought this box of oil pastels for my son, who loves art and coloring. Crayons and colored pencils are nice, but they don't have the same richness and blendability as pastels. He was delighted to receive them, and has used them a dozen time in a month. These are top quality pastels - not crumbly or dry. The colors range from soft to vivid, and the 36 colors in this box are plenty to choose from. I recommend these for anyone who wants to buy good quality art products. The price was reasonable for the quality we received.

another i like
these are close to the Myung. still creamy, smooth, vibrant, blendable. a little more crumble but not bad. i would give them just below the Myung in comparison. recommend for just home use not professional. .

Faber Castell Oil Pastels
I've just started doing soft pastels, but thought I'd like to try the oil pastels, so decided to buy these because they're a good brand, had a decent amount of colors & were a reasonable price for someone just beginning. I've used Faber Castell art products before & found them to be a good value. I've not used these as of yet, so I can't say too much about the quality; but am sure they'd be an excellent choice for a beginner.

Really enjoy these pastels
I had went to our local craft store and came home with a very very hard crayon like set of pastels that were just impossible to work with, after reading online went back and purchased "soft pastels" which turned out to be Chalk pastels when i got home with them, and it seems thats all that our local craft store sells, so i decided to order this set based on the good reviews here just hoping it was what i was looking for. These are pretty decent oil pastels for the price, a lot better tahn anything i found at our Hobby Lobby. Blending is decent and for me as a beginner these are pretty good!

Dry, Do Not Blend, Overall Disappointing
I bought this set about two years ago. My reasoning was that Faber Castell was a well-known art brand that makes good quality materials, therefore, their oil pastels would be better than Mungyo Gallery Oil Pastels, which I kept seeing pop up. Please don't get this. They are dry. They do not blend. Get Mungyo Gallery. Cheaper, Blends, and feels like butter, while these feel crusty. Since getting Mungyo Oil pastels, I have not touched this set. It's 10x better. Even when I first opened the case, you could see a difference. This set looked dry, while the Mungyo ones looked moisturized.

I use these for my multi media/watercolor online art classes. They are good quality and the colors are great.

very nice
These are good oil pastels sticks. I don't have a lot of experience with oil pastel sticks, but I had a box of old sticks (didn't know they were probably old when I got them) and I thought it was just a difficult medium to work with. I wanted more color options so I bought these. Wow what a difference, really fun to work with, colors very nice from vibrant to subtle. Will enjoy more projects and experiment more with this medium now.

Being very new to oil pastel and having only one brand I can't compare to other brands. For those who want to test the waters without breaking the bank, these will do nicely. They were less messy and crumbly than I expected.

Hartito estoy de los lápices mediocres que aparecen en todos lados. Por fin unos lápices de calidad.

So, when I first used these (I'd not used oil pastels before then), I did have a little trouble. I was basically able to execute what I attempted, but the overall result wasn't satisfying. However, when it comes to art, you sometimes have to play with the materials and the methods. And now I've found that using them on Kent paper and smoothing them with Q-tips has great results! You don't even need to add oil. The colors are opaque (white, not so much, but that's not surprising), and they're easy to handle. I just got the 36- set the other day, and I'm considering buying another box. Side note: One thing I really appreciate are the browns in this set. When it comes to skin tones in markers, crayons, pastels, etc., it's difficult to find a range of browns. Usually there's only one or two, and they're usually not great for skin tones. Well, what made me buy this set was seeing that it had multiple browns, and I have to say that I'm not disappointed seeing them in person. Great set. I want to try some other brands, but at the end of the day, I may just end up buying this set again as backup because I see myself going through the set I have quickly.
