The complexity of digital control outweighs any convenience
I have encountered Hamilton Beach devices in the USA where they are considered to be a budget brand but this is the first time I have encountered one of their products in the UK. This microwave oven seems in every way to be unexceptional. I have the 20 litre, 700 Watt machine described as "Digital Controlled" meaning it has buttons to press rather than a couple of rotating knobs for power level and duration.Like many, most, appliances, this microwave stands on little rubber feet. Alas they are rather too smooth so when pressing buttons, and particularly the large button which opens the door, the microwave slides across my counter top. I have solved this probably by sticking electrical tape on the counter top, but it should not be necessary. While on the subject of gripes, the mains cord for this microwave is far too short. I have had to provide an extension cable in order to use it.For some tasks a digital system is less efficient than an analogue system, ie buttons are less efficient than a rotary knob. Setting power levels are simpler with rotary control, setting duration is also simpler using a dial but using buttons will give a greater degree of precision. Using dedicated buttons for special food groups (there are eight of them) may appeal to some but there will be a considerable learning curve. Press a special button, then enter weight by pressing more buttons. However, the time that is automatically set assumes the food is already at a temperature between 20 to 25C.My favourite feature is being able to repeatedly press the start button and advance the duration of full power by 30 seconds a press. My own prejudice is this feature is great, while dedicated buttons for different food groups is too complicated, uncertain and therefore unnecessary. Digital setting of power levels is more complex than a rotary control, while digital setting of duration needs getting used to - a human factors cop-out.Hamilton Beach do offer a similar sized but analogue controlled microwave, and it is £15 cheaper. This may be better value even it doesn't have a digital clock.

Great microwave
This is a really good microwave. It’s quite big so takes a bit room on the worktop, but it’s all good. Has so many functions on it a preset so you just have to press for the food that you’re cooking. It’s very easy to to use ideal for somebody who maybe has some kind of disability or these things are quite simple. It’s not really anything too complicated about it but it works really well. Looks great. Has a light in it when it’s on. It cooks well and it’s very easy to keep clean. Just wipe it down. I think it is quite expensive but it has got a lot of features on it so I think it is worth it

An okay item.
This is a decent basic microwave. I hadn’t heard of this company before and, in my experience, it’s quite rare to find USA manufactured items on Amazon. It’s quite bulky, like most countertop microwaves but the preset options are useful and easy to use, although you need to experiment a bit to get timings right. I have a multi oven, part of which is 600w microwave function. It takes 6.5 minutes to heat my porridge in the morning so this product will do it much quicker. However, 700w isn’t particularly high. Noise level is as expected. As far as value for money is concerned, there’s currently a 20% discount bringing the price down to £80. I would pay £80 but I’d be checking out other options first and I think it’s a bit expensive at £99.99.

Happy to use my new microwave
This is a 700W microwave with 20L capacity by Hamilton Beach in silver color. Well made. Replaced my fairly old Russell Hobbs microwave. Happy to use it. Can't fault at all.Note that this is a Vine review for the item sent for free to review. My reviews are not based on the price but just the material, make, general quality and the usefulness of the product. Please do your own research and comparison on the price.
