Q: Both reviews say 90 degrees. Will it stop a door at about 170 degrees, so knob doesn't hit the wall?

I also used it ar 90 degrees. You Tube videos are very good. The amount of door swing is adjustable. I think it is long enough to allow for 170 deg of swing. The door stops exactly where you set it so the knob will not hit the wall. Only question is if the door opens the full 170 deg.

There were 2, one for the top and one for the bottom

Q: The installation video says that the ids comes in a 4 1/2 inch size for commercial doors, but i can't find this version on amazon. any suggestions?

There are only 2 styles in the commercial. One is for indoor use (clear plastic) and the other is black and silver carbon fiber that states on label for commercial or residenter exterior doors. We installed the carbon fiber ids on three exterior steel doors in our home last fall. They have held up well under our use. I would suggest that you try them on a few of your doors to see how you feel they might withstand heavier use depending on your situation.

Q: Is the 4" fibre thicker than the 3.5" poly? I had trouble getting the poly behind the hinge.

It can go right in front of the hinge.
