They work exactly as I hoped they would. I’ve only used them for lightweight indoor planters a few months, so I’ll be interested to find out how long they last. As others have said, when you want to lower the plant, lift up a bit first. When you want to raise the plant, do it slow-ish instead of shoving it up. So, even though they aren’t attractive, function is more important to me.

Very impressed. I really thought they were going to be little & useless. But NO! They are as big as my palm. So far I've tried bird feeders and in this snow it's able to support a lot of birds big & small. It ratchets so just a little lift, pull down, fill & push up. Locks in place. Can't wait for summer to try the flower basket. I'm sure it'll work. And for this price I'm ordering more.May 1, 2019: my bird feeder was found on the ground. I had only put 1.5 cups feed in it, had about 6 little red wing blackbirds on it & found the pulley strap had come out of the pulley base. Disappointing!February 2020: boohoo, the second & last working pulley broke. It kept the deer from reaching the feeder all winter so I will still recommend them and will be ordering another set. At this great price & for making filling my bird feeders I was happy to have it for even one year.

UPDATE...Still loving these and just ordered 2 more sets- put 3 of the 4 pulley's up yesterday. I put them up high and then attach a bungee cord on the hook so I can pull it down to get to the feeder etc. I have to take all my feeders in at night due to the bears and these make it SO easy!These work GREAT. Fortunately someone left a comment on how to operate them and once I read that I had no problem. You have to push it up a little and then pull it down for it to stop/hold. Play with it before you fill the feeder so you know exactly how it works. I will definitely order more of these. I have two "large" bird feeders and when they are full they are heavy and this pulley has no problem holding them. I can now add more feeders since I won't need a ladder to climb to fill the feeders.

I and my husband struggled with a huge ladder to get to a bird feeder to fill it. My husband is 6'3 and needed to have it high up so he wouldn't hit his head on it mowing the lawn. We were thrilled at how strong it is. The feeder with food in it weighs 10lbs and we thought no way would this work. He just had to pull down on it and lift off the top to fill. If you take the feeder off to fill it, it will go back up without the weight on it. He put a 2lb weight on a wire to keep the pulley lowered while he fills it on the ground. Then pushes up when done.He has filled it 3 times now and keeps saying how great it works! And you can't beat the price!

I really love these things and have ordered others. For some reason when our Pergola was finished we went to use on and it just snapped My husband tried to fix it but could not put it back together. The second one was bought for a backup so I have been using that. I really love these things--I am short

I love this item. I can now lower my plants by myself water them, feed them and lift them back up. These were the best purchase for me.
