The most fun you and your kids will have in a pool.
This item is AWESOME. A few steps to take to remove the battery, but it is well worth it. We get about 2 hours of continual use from it. We use this item in a non-saltwater inground pool. It is heavy out of pool and totally effortless in the pool. It floats in the pool. It’s fast. About 1.5 - 2 mph adult and 2 - 2.5 mph for a kid. My son (8 almost 9) took about 1 minute to learn how to use it. I purchased a diving light to hook up to the GoPro mount for night pool swimming. Looks cool on it too. The cons are it’s heavy out of the pool and gets scratched up easy if it rubs the sides of the pool. But hey, who cares. If you wanted fun in the pool for you and your kids this is totally it. Plus it was the best price on amazon. If you purchase it then only move the kill switch (how awesome is this) in the water so the metal ring does not pop off as some were saying.

So far so good!
Used it all week and had no issues. Kids loved it and it was strong enough to tow me around at 200 lbs. I'll update if I run into any issues but so far so good. Build quality doesn't seem to fit the price tag as a lot of the plastic pieces feel flimsy but that could be intentional to prevent breakage. In the water its easy to maneuver and even my 6 year old was able to carry it out of the water on the beach. Recharged it about 5 times and no water in the battery chamber. I've reapplied the silicone grease each time and haven't needed to use the pump to get the cover off so charging isn't a big deal. I used it in freshwater and it did not sink. All in all glad I gave this one a shot. Hopefully it lasts.

Maybe okay as a toy for a six year old.
This scooter does NOT have enough power to propel anyone larger than teenager size. My daughter is 5 ft and thin and it barely pulls her forward. You can swim faster. The battery does not last, and the scooter becomes extra dead weight. A complete disappointment and waste of money. I purchased two scooters for beach dives so that we could use less air getting to the reef. It is so slow that by the time we reached the reef our tank was half empty. I have tried holding it in different ways (under the body, over the body, between the legs) and it makes no difference. I tried it on my 6-year-old, my 15-year-old, and my 23-year-old and it only helped my 6-year-old. It just does not have sufficient power to propel anyone forward. I threw them both in the trash.

Works Great I have 3 of the Red 300's and 1 of the Blue 250's - I have idea for battery..
About 1 yr ago I bought 3 of the Red 300's and 1 of the Blue 250's. I have used them probably 100 dives and they are still working. They do come with Gel batteries which normally don't deep cycle well (The same type battery backup you would see in an alarm panel.. but bigger). So each and every time you use it you must charge it the same night. I always unplug the charger the next morning. I don't know if they cause any damage if you leave them on longer.. But just thought I would mention since I've had great luck with my batteries. But One point I need to make is Amazon wouldn't send these scooters to Maui due to the battery inside. So I bought the same size battery in a generic battery for only $25 on amazon and had them shipped to Maui. Weird how I can order a battery to maui.. But couldn't order the whole scooter to maui (with the battery in it). Oh and how I got the scooters to maui was by taking the battery out.. Leaving it at my house on the Mainland.. Then taking on United airlines as baggage with a note on the box that the is NO battery inside. Then I cut the plugs off the See scooter batteries, brought the cord and plug to Maui. Then bought new crimps at Home Depot.. and hooked up the Battery leads to the new cheap generic batteries. Situation solves. SO I'm very happy with the performance of the Scooters. Only think I got to say is Each night having to dissemble the Scooters just to charge them and reassemble in the morning is VERY annoying. Terrible design and engineering on this point. They could of easily made a sealed port on the side of the Scooter, that say you unscrew a cover and simply plug in there. NO you have to take the whole thing apart.. Stupid design. BUT I do love how these scooters actually perform in the Ocean. We cover more territory then we ever had before. I won't go on a dive anymore without them. I also think there a good safety device as if there is any urgency to get back to shore.. you can do it much faster. We have had people get cramps and this scooter really helped them out. Which I worked at Yamaha.. I would redesign the Charge port in 1 day.. Yamaha.. please do something there.. IF you did you would have a MUCH better product.Oh and one more point, when you take the scooter apart to charge. There are 2 rubber seals that seem to stick quit a bit. The Scooter comes with a small Petroleum jelly tin to use to lubricate the seals.. Only problem is the Petroleum jelly is really stickly, doesn't work at all.. Goopy. So I wiped off all the goopy petroleum jelly they had on the stickly seals... then just put regular Vaseline Petroleum Jelly on it. Now the unit closes easily and you can pull it apart by hand easily. DO this for sure. OH forgot one more point, in order to open the unit they provide a small foot pump that you hook up each time to pressurize the inside so it pops open. WELL if you change the petroleum jelly to Vaseline.. You will see you DON"T need this crappy pump and the wasted effort screwing it on. You just hold the whole Scooter between your legs, then tug the top of the Scooter left and right sides and it will pull up and off fairly easy. Remember this trick without the pump... YOU will be happy you just cut the charging process in half.. BUT overall, I am very happy with my purchases, they have completely changed or scuba and the areas we can get to now.

worth every penny
Broke my foot, but still wanted to snorkel while in Cabo. Bought this because of the battery life. I read the complaints about weight and difficulty to open the battery compartment, but they are not justified. less than 10 minutes of maintenance after each day of use - cleaning it in fresh water and taking out the battery to charge it - was a small price to pay for the fun it provided. My wife would carry this to the edge of the water, then I would use it to pull both of us to one beautiful snorkeling site after another. This thing is incredible! One day it pulled me well over 2 miles - yes, you read that correctly. I was way out in the sea of Cortez, and with a broken foot, you can be sure that I didn't want to get out there and not get back. Not a problem with this machine. This thing is designed for heavy use and long term reliability. I have nothing but good to say about it.

Battery life is the key
This DPV is great and I use it on every dive. The battery life on this is thing is great and usually allows me to use it anywhere from 2-3 tanks before it needs a recharge. It's fast enough to get around wherever you need to go and slow enough that the battery doesn't drain quickly and you don't miss being able to see things. I've also noticed that you get more use out of a tank when you aren't kicking around. I believe they have a layaway type program where you receive the item and make 0% payments on it without a credit card too if you don't have the full purchase price up front. Highly recommended for recreational diving, snorkeling or any type of water adventure.

HARD TO MANAGE
It's a good scooter for snorkeling but very difficult for recharge management. Not worth the fuss. Plus it doesn't let you know when it's out of power. Very low fi.

Great fun!! however takes 6 hours to charge for 2 hours of fun.
The smaller you are the faster you go. When in the water and charged it works great. I am 6.2 at 205 pounds and was repelled along great, not sure I hit the speed that was advertised. My friends younger daughter 10 - 40 pounds moved very rapidly in the water. The only issue I have with this toy is the recharge time. It takes about 5 to 6 hours to charge the battery, which could be an issue if you are looking at most of your time snorkeling. I may by a second battery to extend the water time.

Where is tech support? UPDATE
So I bought this scooter but didn't get out in 2020 as I was moving for work. Now battery won't power unit and only reads 3 to 4 V. Followed all instructions and charging light is green. Found out battery is dead...after brief call company sorted out no problem.
