Pros: This is a very well-made ruler that I bought for my sewing room. The cork on the back is a real plus as it keeps the ruler from sliding on fabric while I’m marking patterns. I work with heavy fabrics — home dec, upholstery, denim, canvas, rip-stop — and many of my markings are long, straight lines. My quilting rulers don’t have the length I need. I had wanted one with holes at both ends so I could hang in on the front edge of my sewing in front of my sewing machine (for quick measurements while sewing), but I purchased a wooden yard stick that I drilled through. Con: The ruler came in a way-too-large box! C’mon, Amazon, stop wasting cardboard!

IF you need precision when making cuts (for me it's leather) Do yourself a YUUUUGE favor --spend a littl emore and get the right tool. The minimal depth of cork backing makes all the difference. I didn't know that until I bought the cheaper kind --I think it was 6 rulers of $11.99 with cork backing. The depth of cork was at least 2.5mm which raises the ruler that far from whatever you're cutting --therein allowing the cutting blade as it glides a far greater degree of wobble or angle. Might not be a big deal if you're cutting paper --but anything of depth like leather it shows up on the edge like a sore thumb.

excellent, precise ruler. Unlike so many, this ruler measures "off the edge" of the ruler so that you are not relying on that little bit that might be off right on the edge. It is very readable and accurate!

Ordered a metal ruler with a corked back so I could measure and cut stuff easily, and that's exactly what I can do with this fine specimen. No ruler has ever been so straight and pure of heart. It's now my "go to" straight edge in times of need.

The ruler is a thin piece of laser etched sheet metal and cork. combined it’s less than 1mm. so shoddily made that it warps with the slightest force and flops under it’s own weight. For $23 this is an absolute scam. Avoid.
