They work well. I actually used them on the dock poles not the boat at a rental cabin. They protected the boat. The design makes their use flexible.

I did not want to purchase the old style "balloon" fenders and ran across this new style of fenders while researching. I decided to purchase the Sebnux from Amazon after reading the reviews and the price seemed more competitive than one of the more notable brands I had been looking at. I was a little skeptical about this style of boat fenders but let me tell you these are great. They are so easy to use, no ropes to worry about and they truly lock onto the side of your boat. One other plus is they are more compact than the balloon style.
