Legacy: Dark Shadows (PC CD)

Not the worst adventure game I have played
Quite a linear game but I enjoyed the story. It didn't load properly on my Windows 10, at disc 2 it asked something I couldn't answer (I don't remember what now) so I used my old XP. I still had to fiddle a bit to get it loaded (it stops after disc 2 & 3 and asks what you want to do with the files - I just closed this) and it was a bit tricky to play. The look/talk/use labels are very small and sometimes you have to hover about half a centimetre away from them to get them to turn green. You also have to use the back arrow once all the saved slots are on screen to see the additional ones and not the forward one!

It's Ok
The subject heading is all I can say. It passed some time, but I wouldn't be rushing out to buy a sequel

Definitely one of the better adventures in the last year
If you're looking for an adventure game to play, you could do a lot worse than Legacy: Dark Shadows. It is a fairly standard 3rd person adventure game (a la Syberia) set in the future but with links to an event in the Second World War. The graphics are excellent and the puzzles not too difficult. The main character has some charisma but is a bit forgettable but the whole story worked for me and I enjoyed it. It is also priced to sell and thoroughly deserves to.This is one of the few recent adventure games that I will be keeping hold of to replay in the future.

awful
lets see, took 18 attempts to load, then crashed repeatedly. This game is like some kind of eastern european school IT project, terrible dialogue, terrible interface, no plot, cruddy graphics. DONT BOTHER!

In theory anything could be good
I liked this game upto the 4-5 hours mark. After that it kept crashing at random. There's no support worth a damn to be had anywhere.Normally a game crashing doesn't bother me (spot the non-console gamer here!) but when saving involves 14 key/mouse presses and takes 2-3 minutes you'll, hopefully, understand why I gave up. I don't mind getting killed by puzzles (much) but randomly having your progress snuffed out just wore me down. It was an interesting story with absolutely awful voice-acting (mainly) but the crashes just sickened me after a while.I went to the official site and got no help, pretty much learning that the devs had fulfilled their contract and moved on.

Extremely Disappointed!
I bought this game mainly because of the price but after playing it for about and hour - I wanted my money back!!Besides the dubious time spent in loading the game and the fact that whilst loading it launched photo and media programs - I persevered hoping that the game would be worth waiting for.I could not have been more wrong! There is no explanation of what you have to do and I found myself moving the character aimlessly around the levels hoping that something would start to make sense! I was even more confused to start as a male soldier in a WWII bunker, open up a box and then be transported to Mars as a woman! The game makes no sense. I am sure had I wasted another couple of hours on this game the storyline would have become clearer - but to be honest - I would have rather pulled out my own teeth. The game is now in the bin and there it shall stay.Oh yeah - and to top it all - it crashed twice whilst I was playing it and caused my PC to go into DOS mode - buy this game at your peril!

Very Enjoyable.
I didn't have any issues with running the game, other programmes starting, crashes or anything - this is probably just luck on my system setup but it warrants saying.Legacy is basically a pointy-clicky adventure game in the Broken Sword style (though it is a completely different genre) where you make your way through various scenarios, carrying out various tasks to get closer to your ultimate goal. As with all these games it relies upon storyline (which is interesting but very complicated), puzzles (which are usually not very challenging) and a charismatic lead character (it probably helps if you find Russian accents sexy). There are very few points in this game where you don't know what you should be doing - the puzzles are not that complicated. The real strength of the game is the atmosphere which is wonderful, it is clearly meant to mimic BladeRunner in certain ways and achieves this rather well, the cut scenes and movies are superb and you really become involved in the world. There are issues with the game, the dialogue can be a bit clunky and it can be a tad illogical until you get into the developers mindset, (and the story is explained as you go along) but these are really not serious issues.Legacy is a budget game so lacks the 'polish' of alot of products however if you look past that there is something worth playign beneath. If you are the kind of gamer who can't cope outside of the corporate gaming bubble then you are best leaving this alone. If you fancy a little slice of something different then this is worth a shout. And that horrible song when you exit is just sooooo catchy!!!
