Not the original recordings!
I've got to agree with the above reviewer - this is a pretty poor CD - not the original recordings! My wife and I have 9 month old triplets, and they love the theme from Law and Order - they stop what they're doing and watch the screen whenever the theme song is on - and we hoped to get the CD to use in the car on long trips, but they don't pay any attention to this copy. There's none of the driving bass so prevalent in Mike Post's music.

Not the originals, but better in some ways
No, these are NOT the original recordings. But, for people who haven't heard them they are more true to what you think the theme would sound like--the main theme and more main theme.Sure, there is a passage of Italian music in the original Wiseguy theme-and it took away from the song if you were interested in the main theme. Likewise, NYPD Blue concentrates on the main theme, not the vocal that was in the original.I use these for exercise music and they work fine. In general, they are not as "big" sounding as the originals--they drive less hard.

Are you kidding me??????????????????????????
Can someone please tell me where I can find the ORIGINAL television versions composed by Mike Post for the shows. Thankfully, I have the Rockford Files original theme (one of my favs) and the original Hill Street Blues theme which was a hit on the radio at one point. That being said, every album I have looked for here on Amazon with Mike Post TV themes has contained ridiculously awful arrangements to these once great themes.

"yesterday and today's popular TV themes"
Silva Screen presents some of yesterdays and today's most popular television themes from composer Mike Post. This CD contains the arrangements and performances of Mark Ayers and Daniel Caine, not the original music heard from the soundtracks. Ayers and Caine have captured the mood and style of Post, which is a great listen and very entertaining. Some stand outs - LAW AND ORDER starring Jerry Orbach & Sam Waterton - MAGNUM P.I. with Tom Selleck - ROCKFORD FILES with James Garner - THE A-TEAM with Mr. T and friends. All of which still pack that music punch which opened each show every week, so we could lose ourselves in the world of adventure and make believe.Total Time: 43:52 on 15 Tracks/ Silva Screen Records - STD 5022 (2000)

NOT the originals. And horrid.
I have an extensive collection of original TV theme albums and 45 RPM singles, including "Mike Post TV Themes" that came out in the early 80's that was actually produced by Post, albeit with an alternative recording of Rockford Files. As I listened to the samples of this album, it reminded me of a no-name bargain bin record. They sound just awful. Look elsewhere.

Could have been a good album
This album could have been good but it wasn't.There are better recordings of most of these songs out there. "Wiseguy" was a real dissapointment. I had a recording of that theme that included some sweet slow Italian music intertwined with the throbbing agressive main theme. This version didn't have it. It stunk Other problems... The recordings sound like some of them were done on a 200 dollar casio synthesizer. What Post needs to do is come out with a box set complete with the FULL VERSIONS of all the original theme recordings. Wait for that to happen, don't buy this album.

Themes at a price.....
The quality of the recordings is exceptional, all the themes you grew up with by the master, however, this album is literally just the themes, each track is the same length as the themes on the actual programs- short & functional I guess you could say, "Hill Street Blues" for instance is a great piece in its own right, on this compilation it is literally the version from the show, the full length version nowhere to be seen- and that is a shame, One thing I all expected (right or wrong) was some kind of description or information regarding each track, just a little bit of information- anything, especially when this compilation carries the hefty premium of £50 at best, I suppose I expected more, It was still great to hear the themes from my favourite shows in full technicolor (if you know what I mean). I cannot accuse this compilation of offering any kind of value for you hard-earned, which is a shame.

Versand+Verpackung sehr gut.

Not by Mike Post
Sadly these are not the original recordings by Mike Post, but yet another set of second rate copies by Silva Screen. Having said that they're actually a reasonable attempt, so if you aren't too fussed about the originals you may like it.Sadly for me the quest goes on to buy the originals.

Wer braucht denn sowas?
Boah, was ist mir schlecht.
