These things are really small and don't put out much light at all. I purchased multiple ones as I have a rather large pool (40,000 gallons). Even so, the light pattern seems to be fairly weak and does not broadcast like I expected it to. They basically just shine down and not out. Only lasted one season. The metal parts inside the devices became rusted over the winter (they were removed from the pool when it was winterized) while sitting on a shelf inside the pool house. They no longer worked (well, one of them did.........out of six), even with new batteries when we opened the pool for the next season.

Effective and shine brightly perfect size for any kid.
