A Completely Awesome Collection of Short Stories.
An Awesome Collection of Short stories. While some people might find a few of these short stories offensive, it's definitely worth giving them a chance. One of the best things about reading Matt Shaw's work, while you are occasionally right where a story is going, most of the time you are completely wrong and finding out is what keeps you turning page after page. The last story (The Box) while it's not scary, creepy, or extreme by Matt's usual standards, is the best of this set. For Matt Shaw fans, this is definitely a must have for your collection.Watching, Waiting - Travis is a bully, a juvenile delinquent, hanging with the wrong sort of friends, a major trouble maker, yet a magnet for the girls, he is after all a decent looking Sixteen year old, despite looking Eighteen. Because he is slightly built, no one will do anything about his disruptive behavior, no one wants to get involved. That is, until now. When I first start reading this short, my first thought was completely off base.Foggy Me - I had to resubmit this review twice for this story since mentioning the title gets the review banned. Silly me. There's nothing like a woman scorned. Married right out of college and going on 10 years now, they seemed like the perfect couple. However, looks can be deceiving, Her husband has been having an affair and she just found out about it. Not knowing how long it's been going on, she decides enough is enough, she isn't going to take it and begins to plan her revenge. After all, two can play that game, and there's nothing like a woman scorned as they say. This is definitely one of my favorites. Right up the alley of A Woman Scorned."Headaches - Will definitely give one pause the next time you hear "it's just a bug." Andrea's son Oliver was sick, complaining of horrible headaches, the local doctor kept telling her "it's just a bug, nothing more." But Oliver's headache wouldn't go away, they just continued to get worse. While not exactly scary, being a migraine sufferer myself, it does give one pause, thankfully I'm not a hypochondriac. However if you are, you'll probably run off to the doctor every time you wake with an itchy nose, ear, or sore throat.TED - Great Short Story. Ted is an Extreme Character, it's kind of nice getting a more detailed look at his bigoted self when compared to what we see of him in the zombie story Matt Shaw created in his book "Rotting Dead F*cks." The first thing you read at the beginning of this book is an intro from Matt letting you know he is no way like Ted, especially his character and behavior. Definitely a nice quick read.SNUFF - Highly Recommended for horror & psychological terror fans like myself. If you're aware of Matt's other works, this short story shouldn't phase you in the least. Matter of fact, it would fit perfectly as one of the scenes from the movie Hostel, and not the edited for television version either. While highly graphic in the torture scenes, it is a Matt Shaw story after all. That line alone should be enough of a warning if you're easily offended to skip it, or if you're not, encouraging enough to grab it quickly. Highly Recommended (for horror and psychological terror fans like myself of course).NUGGET - Another Awesome Matt Shaw short story. Jake has fame, fortune, popularity, and a beautiful young wife. That is until the day he was driving too fast and crashed his car, only surviving because his lack of seatbelt threw him out the windshield. Waking up he finds himself an amputee, now he really is his wife Chantal's Nugget. Being a Matt Shaw fan has made me a bit immune to most horror stories, so those that aren't as gory and gruesome as his black label books usually leave me laughing, I just can't help myself. Though even with all that, he rarely surprises me when I reach the ending, until now that is. I totally loved it.The Box - Graham woke up in a box, a clear box on top of a roof with no memory of how he got there. The question is, how can he get out? I loved this short story, it's definitely one of my favorites from this set.

Matt Shaw, comic horror genius
The most wonderfully messed-up, inventive, darkly hilarious horror writer in the world. Don't miss this essentialcollection. Matt Shaw puts almost all the other overhyped one-trick ponies to shame, which it to say: you NEEDthis book.

Shaw never disappoints
I got this only for The Box since I've read the others already, however it was totally worth it! The Box can really get into your head if you let it-be warned! Then as usual Shaw gives us an amazingly awesome plot twist!!
