It is SO refreshing to read a book on Buddhism, a biography nonetheless, where we are not inundated with rationalizations, psychological justifications, or de-mystifications. If you read other biographies of Buddhist saints, you realize know how rare this is. Thank you, thank you... Sometimes you just want to read a book with some real, genuine, magical meat on the bone. Especially when you're hoping to get some insight into a totally different culture -- it's a good lesson for us westerners to learn how to let go of what can or cannot happen in a story.I love this book on many levels. There's also a great terms dictionary in the back, which I've referred to repeatedly.

I wouldn't recommend this book for beginners in buddhism. It has many symbolic and metaphoric passages that could lead to bad misunderstanding. But for those seriously following the path, specially in he Nyingma tradition, it's a wonderful book to know better Guru Rinpoche and how the Buddhadharma arrived in Tibet!

The story is brilliant. Easy to understand and very well written. I recommend this book to any one.

An excellent story and teaching. For those interested in Guru Rinpoche, either as a student of the Dharma, or for academic reasons will find an engaging translation of terma here.

It Is Amazingly written. The stories of Padmasambhava are really inspiring. The teachings are beautiful and straight. I recovered my devotion.

This is the book I have been looking for for years... It is stories of Guru Rinpoches life... Amazing!AND it is written in a way, that you don't really notice the translator... before you come to think of it... it is a marvel of translations, so in tune, delicate and fine... so, you are just there with Guru Rinpoche...
