Say goodbye to ice baths! A wort chiller is a heat exchanger designed to cool your wort to yeast pitch-able temperatures at a rapid rate, forming the cold break. Just attach your immersion chiller to a garden hose or kitchen sink and turn on the cold water. Water runs internally through the coils and is then immersed in the hot wort. The heat from the wort is conducted by the copper or stainless and expelled through the chiller's outlet tube. Immersion chillers are most popular among home brewers.

Works great!
First time using one of these just ran the hose from outside into the kitchen. I was a bit skeptical but it brought the temperature down from 152 to yeast pitching range in about 30 minutes. 5 gallon batch.

Perfect for entry level homebrewing
Works very well. Perfect for entry level brewing. Its not huge but should work fine for 5 gallons and under. Would make a great pre-chiller if you decided to upgrade. Tighten the hose clamps when you get it snd test for leaks before use.

You get what you pay for
I really liked the price on this, although I knew it was suspiciously cheap. Some observations:- The chiller came in an otherwise empty box. There was no styrofoam or other means of protection for shipment.- The bend on one end is gouged, revealing that the tubing is not pure copper, but copper-coated.- As others have noted, the pipe clamps are weak and should eventually be replaced with a compression fitting/hose barb for a better seal. All that being said, it’s only $40, and there’s some redemption in that.

Solid purchase
I don't know hownit is taking people so long to cool their beer... I cooled 5.5 gallons from boiling to 75 degrees in no more than 10 minutes... Maybe they need to turn up the flow or something. I also ran the water coming out of the cooler onto the outside of the kettle to speed things up a bit maybe this was the big difference I had? I also live in Portland so maybe my ground water is colder or something? I don't know... I have the 12.5 foot copper and it does a great job. The hose clamps needed a couple turns on arrival other than that, happy with my purchase.

Cool Product
Works awesome, works well for me. I use it for about 2.5 gallons (when using extracts for 5 gal brews) and 1.5 gallon brews. 1.5 gallon takes about 25 min to get to 80 degrees, and takes about 30-35 min for the larger 2.5 ish brews. If you want to hook it up to your sink, you will need an adapter, I got one from a brew shop online.Wish I had gotten one of these once I knew I was likely going to keep brewing. (also recommend one of the douche like sanitizer bottle sprayers, as well as a bottle tree, totally worth it!)

Leaks a lot at the copper to plastic connection
Mine leaks a lot at the plastic tube to copper connection. So much that I stopped using it and need to seal it better somehow before I use it again. Other than that, size is ok, and everything was in good condition.

Works great, good quality
Works great, cools wort quickly. Previous reviews I read complained leaking at the hose connections, I think the manufacturers heard because the tubing is slipped well onto the copper and clamped tight. No complaints.

Does the Job. Test it First, Though.
It does the job. But, make sure to do a test run on it before you chill your wort to make sure it doesn't leak and spray water from where the hose connects to the copper pipe. Simply tightening the clamp where the tube is when you get it may not work, so try pushing the hose on a little further and then tightening. This did alright for me. Essentially, you're getting what you pay for. Not too many $40, new wort chillers out there. Hope this helps.

Most likely copper coated steel. 20 minutes to cool 6 gallons. No leaks when used at medium flow
No leaks as suggested by others but I did not turn the hose up all the way. There is no need to run this thing full blast, of course it will try to leak pumping water at 90psi from 1/2 down to a tiny 3/8 tube using worm clamps. Just run it at a good low flow and your good. About 20 minutes to cool 6 gallons. I'm pretty sure it's not real copper and it could cool faster if it was.
