Got this on sale for maybe $50 over the basic model - used to travel overseas and didn't buy one bottled water! Probably saved me the value of the unit. It's a great design, simple, somewhat hard to push though for smaller bodied persons, and doesn't hold a lot of water, so bring an extra bottle if you need a fuller cache. Worked great in creaks, rivers, and the worst water - some of the public water sources. I always filtered just to be safe. Water wss chlorine free, we stayed healthy. Helps if you dry the filter from time to time - cleaning and care is simple. It was so valuable I lost it and ran back 2 miles in the Alps up a major back climb to rescue it. One thing I notice is the seals seem to be a little weaker after 2 weeks use - some dripping, careful not to force fully in or not in far enough..

I love it, don’t like the price but definitely works well and is high quality. I have no way to actually test to see if it’s real titanium or that the water quality is great but after filtering the water tastes fine.

While the potential to lose the bottle cap during pressing still exists, I noticed that the carry handle swivels on the 16.9oz version which I prefer. But expensive but it does the job probably wouldn’t buy it again if it broke or got lost

I used this water for the first time on a day hike along the Withlacoochee River. I took some of the tea colored water from the river and pre filtered it with a mill bank bag. After filtering it through the Grayl it was as clear as bottled water and tasted as good. The replacement filters are a little pricey so I do suggest pre filtering the sediment out of the water with a cotton handkerchief or mill bank bag. The outer titanium cup takes longer to boil water then my titanium cook pot but just a couple minutes longer.

Purchased this to replace my old molded GeoPress for when I'm packing lighter. Product is very solid in construction, but after just a few test filters, I noticed that the aluminum container was getting scratched up. Doesn't seem to impact the quality of it ... yet. But I'll be a bit weary when using it, since it is very unsightly.Logically, it makes sense that using the press is bound to cause some scratches when you're applying as much pressure as you are.I do love the improvements GRAYL has made to the lid and filter too, as well as improving the filter to accept the one-way valves in case you want to use any mix-ins.
