MothReaper Fruit Fly Trap
The MothReaper Fruit Fly Trap works really well. It is a cheap plastic and yellow is not the prettiest color, but it works well. The box it came in is cheap and the plastic is cheap, but, again, it does the trick. The directions were lacking, but it's mostly common sense. There are little baggies of sweet vinegar smelling balls or beads (it smells awful) that go into the base. You put on the lid and carefully push the insanely sticky butterfly into the top hole. Within a short few hours, flies flew into the inside and died and many were stuck to the butterfly. if the price stays right, it will help with the problem if there is one.

Good adhesive but didn't attract flies
The adhesive on the traps works well but the attractant didn't seem to work as it should. I just have to hope that a fly will be stupid enough to land on the yellow butterfly.

Fruit flies are a total nuisance!
Sorry for not providing a photo, but once they are used, these are a little gross to show off! Every summer, particularly if we get fresh produce, we end up with a fruit fly infestation at least 3 different times throughout the summer. I can't stand them, they make everything filthy and it creates extra cleaning constantly. Even with trying to get everything kept neat and tidy, I think they hitch rides into the house on produce, but however they get in, it's annoying! These traps help lure the little flying jerks to their death. While I'd prefer not to kill any creatures at all, these just have to go. This device is nice, it's not too unsightly until it gets covered with corpses, then it's kind of a good sight to see, but still kind of gross in general. It's easy to sit it in a spot the bugs like that is out of the way and just let it do its thing. We've done vinegar traps often and they are kind of hit and miss and we use fly swatters. This is another line of defense and I really like them and they work well. The sooner we get these little flies under control, the better and cleaner the house feels! I definitely would get these again.

Not effective at all
I wanted to have this work. But it does not. It is super cute and the sticky part works well. And the use is easy, but not effective. Not worth the money.

Meh results
I got this yesterday to address a little fruit fly/fungus gnat issue in my kitchen, specifically around my garbage disposal and trash can. I'll give the design points and the bait smells like balsamic vinegar rather than the dead body fly attractant smell I'm used to. It just doesn't work. I've caught two out of about 30 gnats in 24 hours and that's because I swatted them with the sticky strap myself.

Good holder for a sticky trap.
This is a good example of a repurposed product. Cram a sticky trap in a hole and a new product is born.I got this because I though the bottom would be a nice holder for my regular sticky traps. The bottom is a one-use trap for fruit flies, gnats, etc. that uses an attractant. The instructions say add water after 2 weeks, but I suspect initial water should also be added. The inside of the jar is sticky to trap the insects. Like all sticky traps, it is useful only until the inside is covered. I guess I have the wrong bugs since the jar captured practically nothing. The top is a standard yellow sticky trap with the bottom trimmed. You must roll it like a straw to insert it.This is pricy. It was $14 a month ago. Now it's $10. Wait till it's about $5 to buy.

so nice to have a standalone trap that isn't messy
We have issued with fruit flies in our pantry, as you would expect.I have had a few traps that are open containers with juice/cat food and vinegar. Smelly, messy but it works. Until it gets knocked and spills. And even then, they hover before going in.These traps catch them the second they land on it - no escape.AND, this has two traps - a sticky tape butterfly on top and a traditional liquid trap on the bottom. It's contained so it's not messy. So, there is no mess.I can move these around the pantry without fear of spilling.I am going through about a trap a week, but they are filled with dead fruit flies, so that's good.I am also taking it outside on nights we are on the deck or patio, to catch the ones that linger around food or wine glasses. It comes with plenty of refills.I have also used the refills in potted plants and stuck one in a fake plant near my fruit bowl. This is a great trap and does the job.
