Rosemary and Thyme - The Complete Collection

Rosemary and Thyme is a detective series about two gardeners: - one an ex-cop, but you'd be forgiven for forgetting that on occasion, as the quality of the script-writing can be pretty poor (she's an ex-WPC in series 1 and an ex-sergeant by series 3. Oh, if only I could get promotion in retirement!). It is the lightest-weight detective programme on telly, and nothing wrong with that: with Felicity Kendall and Pam Ferris it can't be anything but charming, and I love it as pure froth. But I tend to read while watching it, in order to occupy my brain.The 9-disc version is a Dutch release (where it's rated suitable for 6 years and over, fwiw) in the original English, with just Dutch subtitles that you can switch on or off. Its initial price was pretty steep and I waited for it to drop to twenty, and it may come down further than that.The photograph is misleading - what you get is a typical "series" box with 9 discs on one spindle (and 3 episodes per disc).And why not? No way of packaging DVDs is perfect, except for perhaps a card envelope for each disc. But when you want to select one disc, a spindle involves man-handling all of them, and I would recommend care be taken, as I have seen overloaded spindles damage poorer quality writeable discs.My only criticism is that these prints seem a bit grainy at times - I'd have expected higher definition, but it's something I'm noticing more and more in DVDs.

Light hearted fun during lockdown, but although not necessary for me personally, the only subtitles available aren't in English. Also, the design of the case is slightly disappointing - the disks are listed as "Disc 1, Disc 2" etc with no clear way of knowing which series it's from other than being in order from first to last stacked on top of one another on a single central "pole". Means having to take them all off to get to one of the later discs. Still, doesnt affect the viewing so no harm. Very happy with my purchase.

I have always enjoyed Rosemary anyTime this is great I can enjoy it whenever I want to watch it. Don't be out off by the Dutch writing on the case and at the start of the disc it is all English.
