Excellent gadget
I looked at some similar beaters and thought I'd give this one a try and wow it's fantastic! Well worth the price and it does exactly what it says it does. Makes cake making a breeze especially ones with fruit or choc chips in! I would definitely recommend this to any one.

Great product
I have a kitchenaid mixes and this does the job perfectly, would have been a 5 star rating except it's a little tricky to scrape off the cake batter between the ridges, but that is from someone speaking who likes to get every last inch of cake batter into the tin! Very easy to clean though just place under hot running water and it cleans itself. I would recommend to anyone who makes lots of cakes.

DOn't know how I coped without this
I fitted this to my Grundig mixer, and it has been a revalation. Cakes mix much better, and less comes flying out of the bowl.

Fiddle Faddle
First saw this advertised to buy from USA a couple of years ago, however, thought it might end up too pricey so didn't bother. The write up sounded pretty good for baking so when I saw it available in the UK decided to go for it. I have not used it yet so can't tell you whether it is good or not, but, from the directions on the packaging it will be a fiddle to use as the beater has to be raised, then lowered after use! The other thing to remember is that this product is not endorsed for use by KitchenAid on their mixers according to the item packaging, so one needs to beware.I may try it out one day when I've time to fiddle about, but for normal baking and mixer use will stick with the original K/Aid beaters.

Works with Grundig Die Cast Food Mixer - UM9140
Just to confirm this beater works with Grundig Die Cast Food Mixer - UM9140. I had read the mixer was capable of using Kitchen Aid attachments, and in this case it is true. I have just used the beater to make a chocolate sponge cake and I can honestly say that I didn't need to scrape the sides of the bowl, the 'SideSwipe' did it for me, making the job much easier.

Makes a difference
Received in good time, clean (not 'dirty' as if it sat in a warehouse for a year, no scratches or hazy plastic), and well packaged.I tried it 3 times before writing this review. It fits my 4.5 quart KitchenAid White "Classic Plus" perfectly. I had to adjust the screw on the mixer to raise this beater a tad as it was scraping the bowl too deeply, but that's to be expected since the height of the attachments is already predetermined at the factory. I hear this is completely normal to make adjustments to the "screw" in the neck of the mixer. It works especially well scraping the batter off the sides of the mixing bowl. I don't have to constantly stop the mixer and scrape the bowl down. VERY useful. And it really does scrape 95% of the batter off the sides of the wall. The teeny tiny amount it leaves towards the top of the bowl is negligible. And batter, or egg whites WILL creep up the sides of the bowl with any whisk, beater, etc. BUT I don't recommend this for whisking egg whites. It actually beats the hell out of the whites and they don't come out right. The only thing that caused me to pause is that the instructions say NOT to use with "chilled or frozen BUTTER, peanut butter, and other fatty ingredients." I pause because I read where a well known pastry chef said to use slightly chilled butter in pastry dough (not room temperature). But maybe I can still use this with semi-chilled butter. Also, "NOT to be used for making bread dough". I wonder why one would use this instead of a bread 'hook', but I don't bake bread. In any event, I would highly recommend this. It is heavy and solid. The silicone 'fins' are thick but pliable. There is some space between each fin that will allow chocolate chips, etc. to pass through.Should stand up to much use. I really like it a lot.

If you cream a lot of batters and doughs, this is the right tool for the job.
This thing is so good that not only is it the right tool for the job, but it makes the standard paddle attachment the WRONG tool. It will cut your creaming time for butter and sugar in half, not even counting stops for scraping the bowl. You just won't have to do that. When you get it, watch this work. It is actually kind of hypnotic, but also much better mixing device than the standard paddle attachment. Some of the other types of paddle replacements are just good at scraping the bowl. This one is INCREDIBLE at mixing, which is the real point of having a mixer in the first place. When to use it:1. Creaming butter and sugar for cookies and cakes.2. Mixing almost anything you would consider a batter rather than a dough and would have used the standard paddle attachment3. Cookie doughs - up to a point (see Tip #1 below)Advantages1. Better mixing in shorter time than the standard paddle attachment. No question. Compare the two when you get it.2. No scraping down the bowl.In my case for standard cookies, the creaming time went from 3 to 4 minutes with at least one stop for scraping the bowl, to 90 seconds complete and it was better creamed.Disadvantages1. Harder to scrape the vanes than standard paddle attachment, so more beater waste. (Hey, more to lick off the beater, if that is your kind of thing.)2. Can't be used to "power through" very cold butter or tougher items or doughs.3. It has a lifespan no matter how well you treat it. The silicone vanes will start to crack and come off after a while (years, if done right). Accept that fact. It's still worth it.Tips:1. Using chocolate chuck cookies as an example, use this SideSwide for the creaming the butter and sugar, eggs, and up to the point of adding half the flour. Then swap it out for the standard paddle attachment for the second half of the flour and the chunky stuff. Half the flour is usually the point it crosses the threshold from being a batter to being a dough. This will extend the life of your SideSwipe.1a. I must admit that when only using minichips, I don't bother swapping out for the standard paddle. Anything with standard chips or bigger, especially with nuts or chuck chocolate, I swap it out.2. As others have said, adjust the height of your mixer as needed.3. You may have to adjust the speed of this attachment in comparison to your paddle attachment. Try going slower by one click to start and see where that puts you. Adjust as needed. This is my third one. First one, I killed it with too cold butter and chunky stuff. My bad. Second one, I just made a whole lot of cookies and cakes with it. Lasted 3 years. I assume this one will do the same. I will gladly buy another one then.

Works, but not the best choice.
This does what it is meant to do, which is scrape the sides while mixing. That said, so much gets stuck between all the little "teeth" that you either have to spend a bunch of time scraping between them, or waste a bunch. It's meant to save you the time and effort of stopping to scrape the bowl a few times, but I don't think this balances out as saving time.Compared to the official scraper that didn't look as effective with just the one sided, single blade scraper; the official one wins. It did at times push some of what was being scrapped up too high, but generally worked just like this one and was incredibly easy to clean.

Fantastic beater!
I tried to buy the KitchenAid scraper beater for my mid-70s model KitchenAid, because I thought it would be wonderful. It said it fits all models of KitchenAId. It does not fit the old, original models. I got one for my daughter. I've used it with her when visiting. it is good, but we still need a scraper. When I came across this one, and it said it fits my model, I tried it. Not only does it fit, but it works much better than the official KitchenAid scraper beater does. There is no need for a scraper unless I need to get the dough out of the bowl. It does a really wonderful job of incorporating everything in the bowl, including all the stuff from the sides. I've been using for it for close to a year now, and am still completely happy with it.

It's OK, not super great. Not horrible.. but it's got its limitation and problems.
For some reason it doesn't work as well as promised. The scraping is kind of off and doesn't always scrap. I tried this in both the original bowl and the glass bowl (accessory). Similar situation. It's not bad.. .but just not.. super great as I thought it was going to be. The bowl is not cleanly scraped when mixing like I thought it was going to do that--but maybe I thought wrong, right? So, if you are thinking and hoping for clean scraping as the mixer turns, no, it won't happen. But it does a good generalized job pushing the stuff down. So in "general" it seems to be working OK.It's not super expensive so worth it the cost. I am giving it an "it's OK" rating.Dishwasher safe. And a beatch and a half to clean out by hand having to scrub every little nook and cranny of this gadget. Also when mixing sticky runny batter, soo much of the batter is stuck to the many "teeth" of this gadget. That can be another beatch and a half scrapping the batter back into the mixing bowl.Oh boy. Yeah.. "It's OK" guys. It's.. just OK.
